Question about Gaggia Titanium Espresso Machine

CLogged Titanium My Titanium shows :Ventilating. I open the knob and let hot water/steam out many times. After 20 times it says "select coffee" so I push selector, it grinds and after the clicks it shows again "Ventilate". I used cleaning solution for 7 days but still no brewing. Seems a pipe is clogged or some orifice? I am an engineer and could take it apart, clean and re-assemble but until today the seller Abree did not provide me service manual. Any advice?     I appear to have the identical problem with my gaggia titanium. I have run a reservoir worth of water through the machine in response to the 'ventilate' message, but the message will not clear. jim

    Same problem!...after descaling my machine...the word ventilate came on my matter what I try, the ventilate display stays on....meanwhile my great coffee machine will not make coffee....if you know of a solution please let me know...have trie on/off, unplugging, removing brew group, cleaning, ventilating many times, rinsing...nothing has worked.....thanks....

    Just got the machine and within 2 days am getting this Ventilate problem. I can't clear it and can't make copy. Any ideas.

    I'm now on my second Gaggia Titanium in the last 30 days. Both brand new machines steamed about 3 cups of milk before I got the "ventilate" message. I followed the manual instructions to prime the circuit and then attempted to manually prime. Neither worked. If I push the "hot water," and then open the wand, I get prompted to "close the knob" after a few seconds. If I keep repeating that process (20-30 times), the display will clear and I can use the machine to brew coffee. Sometimes the hot water will then pump, but half the time I will get the "ventilate" message again. When I get the dreaded "ventilate", I have to go through the entire process above (20-30 times), before the display will then clear and I can make coffee again. After going through two machines, I wonder how common this problem is.

    i have had the same problem and found the answer it is just a stupid internal counter which has no relivance to if the machine needs decalcifing

    just hold the esc key down for 10 secs that resets the counter then go to factory reset and say yes clears the memeory then give it acouple of rinses for good mesure. good luck.

    Doing the repeat ventilate process over and over worked for me this time. Why are people being so tolerant of this problem, after spending so much on the machine? I'm sending mine back if this is indicative of life with the Gaggia Titanium. Is Gaggia doing anything to rectify this problem? It sounds fairly common.

    same problem with the ventilate ...this sucks. great machine, amazing coffee, but I have gone to Starbucks the last few mornings b/c the machine will not work!
    the Gaggia tita Titanium is 3 weeks old!
    I see numerous people have attempted to overcome the same problem by pushing the hot water button, then opening the steam knob, and repeating 20-30 times. I have attempted that without resolution. 

    any new ideas?

    Continue to get ventilation error. Buttons do not work once i get this message.Only way to clear seems to be to reset to factory settings and then run hot water then change it to steam where it appears to clear it for a short time.

I think it's simply this: The duration of the rinsing cycle is equal to the amount of water you have in the water tank. I don't believe they tell you this anywhere in the manual! I own a Titanium SS and it rinsed and rinsed and rinsed the first time I performed it! I figured out it will just keep going until the water tank sensor tells the machine it is out of water which is equal to saying to it: "Thanks for using all the water I wanted you to use to rinse, now you're finished." Move the machine close to your the knob and let it do its thing for as long as it takes. Hope this helps, Tony.

Had the same problem
Pump was dry
Opened the Gaggia and saw that every time i opened the knob for steam the water roze through the tube from the water container to the punp. So opening and closing got my Gaggia working again ....

I went through 3 machines (both Gaggia and Saeco--both have the same Rapid Steam system), hours of searching the Internet, and phone conversations with support(?) staff before I came up with what seems to be good options for both fixing the problem and then preventing it from being a problem again.

The Fix. Fixing the problem works better with two people, so I will refer to person 1 (P1) and person 2 (P2). To fix the problem: 1) P1 uses either a turkey baster or the small plastic (and leaky) pump packaged with the machine; 2) while the readout says "ventilate", P2 pushes the hot water button, then turns the machine off and removes the water tank; 3) P1 fills the plastic pump (or baster) with water and inserts it into the water intake valve (as best as you can, it doesn't fit perfectly); 4) P2 then turns the machine on and opens the steam wand while P1 pushes water into the intake using the plastic pump or baster; 5) as soon as P1 is finished, P2 turns off the steam valve. Repeat steps 3) through 5) until the machine has accepted 4-5 good pumps of water. If you get the "fill watertank" message, you must begin the entire process over again (if you get the "fill watertank" message every time, just keep following the process until you get the machine to accept 4-5 good pumps of water); 6) turn the machine off and reseat the water tank. 7) Turn the machine on, press the hot water button, and open the steam valve. It may take a minute, but you should finally get water. Run it until it becomes a steady stream, and then some more...about 8 ounces worth. I have found that this process doesn't always work if the machine is hot. When it's hot, it sometimes won't accept any water into the intake valve.

Prevention. To prevent the problem, I have been successful (so far) by: 1) after steaming milk, I push the hot water button and run hot water through the wand until it is a steady stream, and then about 4 oz more. 2) I always steam the milk first, then run hot water through the wand, and then make the espresso. 2) I always run water through the wand after making coffee.

This seems like a lot of steps, but it really doesn't take that long once it's part of your routine. I've been successful with this process for the last several day and before that, I was getting the ventilate message every time I tried to steam milk. I'm hoping it continues to work! It's really a shame that the technical staff have not come up with a better solution or, at the least, addressed the problems people are currently experiencing. When I called Saeco, they told me they didn't know why it as happening!

Sounds like the steam wand is getting blocked some where either at the metal end or in the parnello wand if you machine has one at the end of the steam wand, if both of those are clean then try this push in on the steam knob if that works then tap rod assemble or steam valve needs to be replaced, make sure to ask about the stainless steel valve instead of the plastic one.

Gaggia Titanium. Fault suggests ventilation required. Followed manual instructions, nothing happens. Tried rinsing, nothing happens. Tried hot water nothing happens? Have taken out and cleaned all pbvious...

Do you hear the pump working but no water flows?

You should select hot water (the third button from the right) and the display should say "hot water" at the same time it is saying VENTILATE --- open the steam valve all the way and the pump should start and you should see water from the steam wand.

If you don't hear the pump at all, then that is a different problem.

If you do hear the pump but still don't get any water with the steam valve open, then you need to prime the pump by using a turkey baster or the accordian pump that came with the Titanium to pump water into the valve where water from the tank goes. Remove the tank and use the turkey baster to pump water into that valve while the pump is running and the steam valve is open all the way with HOT WATER selected. the second water starts to come out the steam valve you want to stop the pump (turn the power off or turn the steam knob shut) and put the water tank back on and make sure there is plenty of water in the tank - then start the pump again by opening the steam valve all the way and let it pump water out the steam wand for a few minutes.

Keep getting ventilate message - won't ventilate and cannot operate steam or grinder w/ ventilate message

Try this run the hot water cycle for a few seconds, it that works, try steaming if you get the message again clear it by running the hot water cycle and then go to steaming, this time push in on the knob after you open it, it that works, then the tap rod or the valve assembly needs to be replaced.

The machine screen reads "ventilate". I open the knob of hot water but it doesn't fix it. What should I do?

Press the button to switch from steam to hot water, then push in on button, if that works then the tap rod assembly needs to be replaced, also check the ens of the steam nozzle, male sure it is not blocked.

Gaggia Titanium Espresso machine problem: steam venting into inside compartment after pulling espresso shots.

Normal, depending on the amount, when the hot water goes through the coffee and the pressure builds up the excess has to go somewhere when it stops, usually the drain tray, so there is a little steam loss.

Keeps showing ventilate. tried running the hot water. took removable machine parts out, cleaned, and put back. nothing works

Check the end of the steam wand, that could be blocked, if not then try this push in on the knob after you turn it open if that works, then replace the steam valve assembly.

Ventalate screen

Try this open the hot water valve then push in the steam knob, if that works then contact your nearest distributor and tell them you want a new style steam valve, this valve is stainless steel and works a lot better than the plastic one in the machine.

Can't get rid of ventilate message on titanium plus machine

Try this, after opening hot water valve, push the knob in when it asks for ventilate. If that works then contact your nearest gaggia distrubutor and ask for a new stainless steel steam valve assembly.

Gaggia Titanium, makes hot water but no steam

Push in on the steam knob, if that works, then the steam valve assembly needs to be replaced, tell the Tech where you bought the machine that you need to get the new stainless steel valve.

Saeco Vienna Digital

I had this problem on my Saeco Vienna Digital a while back. I read somewhere just to keep on ventilating, even if it took 20 hoppers of water. Sure enough after about 16 cycles, I heard a change in the noise and looked to see the ventilate sign was gone.
