Lg 47lh40 tv right half of screen is dark and it shuts itself off

A timing board will almost never cause half a dark screen, it's basically not electronically possible, it's most likely bad LED lamps

No, it's not the LED strips, You have a T-com board problem, so replace the T-com board.

Check its connection between LCD pane and T'con board for any loose contact.

If half screen is affected it will be either a board (LCD and Plasma have different names) but in those one board drives each side of the screen unit--worst case is the display panel itself which is fatal from a cost point of view.

This problems ur tv are having only can be two causes 1) The Y-Sustance main tuner logic board or 2)The tv Plasma screen panel itself it is slowly leaking radiaton and dying,if it is the tv plasma screen panel itself it is dying than the tv not worth repairing because by replacing the plasma screen panel itself will cost the same as a new tv itself.The Y-Sustance board-that the tuner main logic board that take in the tv incomming broadcasting signal cable.Tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a whole new refurbish Y-Sustance main tuner logic board for replacement.This tv problems are 50/50 between the Y-Sustance main tuner logic board or the very exspensive plasma screen panel itself.

This is a circuit board issue. Your going to have to call LG and find someplace to have it fixed under warranty. Open box items cannot be returned so LG will give you someplace around your area to bring it for the repair.

I am having a similar problem. Try reseating the ribbon cables being very careful with the clips that hold them. On the T-Con board. Sounds like either the Lcd panel screen itself or the t-con board.

I just came across this problem. I called in, and they said there was a power switch right beneath the light on the bottom right edge of the tv. So I decided to look down there and it was switched to off. Switched to on and that was the problem. I didn't even know there was a button there, but apparently one of my friends turned it off while he was drunk.

Install the forteManager software that comes with your LG LCD monitor. Go to the Options tab and choose Restore which will set it back to factory settings. For some reason some monitors come this way out of the box and this was the only way I was able to solve the problem with mine.
