SOURCE: Ice maker only makes crushed ice
Pull the ice bucket out. Behind it you will see a rectangular hole with a rod in it. The rod should be able to move with your one finger up and down. If it does not, the solonoid attached to it is either frozen or burnt out.

if there's frost on the back inside wall of the freezer and the fridge is getting warm you have a defrost problem,or if frost is on packages and racks the door could of been left open or the door where the ice comes out might not be closing properly.if it's a defrost problem you could have a bad defrost fan motor, you wouldn't hear the fan turn on when you open the freezer door,a bad timer or board, you didn't send the model number, bad heater or thermostat or loose wire.
