You should have plug output for woofer and tweeter. First. Output plugs should be named like : X3(1): + Woofer X3(2): - neg. Woofer and for the tweeter: X3(4) + Tweeter and X3(3) - neg. At least, that is the wiring for the model : B215A. With a little luck, you should get something around the same. Also try wiring coming from the small i think 15 pin IC (Tweeter), if you can follow the trace on the board that go to the 15 pin IC. This is the tweeter output + and -. And the 2 other bigger may be from the big Output transistor. Best of luck! Serge Lavallee.

Because the system is bi-amplified, it is important to replace the wires correctly to avoid phase problems. I don't know how the wires are colour coded, but if it is any help I downloaded the schematic and the wires are numbered 1: Woofer Active 2: Woofer Earth
3: Tweeter Earth and 4: Tweeter Active. Sorry if that's no help. Otherwise it should be easy to trace the wires to see which connect to earth.

strictly speaking speaker wires are not 'live' they have a + and - but no electricity flows down them. easy to test. i am assuming the wires do not have connectors on the ends, just bare wires. put the wires into sound system as normal and hold the other ends on the terminals in the speaker, if there is poor or no sound, swap them over. you will definitely know when you have it right.

strictly speaking speaker wires are not 'live' they have a + and - but no electricity flows down them. easy to test. i am assuming the wires do not have connectors on the ends, just bare wires. put the wires into sound system as normal and hold the other ends on the terminals in the speaker, if there is poor or no sound, swap them over. you will definitely know when you have it right.

To answer your question;
Usually you would use an ohm/impedance meter or multimeter to test the voice coil right at the horn`s terminals then with the crossover network connected you would go down the line all to the speaker box terminals to check for an open line.
But if you don`t have a multimeter you can rig a small AAA battery with two wires connected and listen for a "click" sound as you touch and release the horns terminals.
Of course this would only tell you if you have an open voice coil but it is often enough.

Rxv1700 power will not stay on

The unit turns on then shuts off after a few seconds.

This could be a bad speaker or speaker wire. I had this same problem recently. In my case it was the powered sub-woofer. I disconnected the speaker wire from the back of the receiver(with the power off, of course). When I powered up the receiver, problem solved, it worked fine. I then made sure the wire was not shorting out, carefully reconnected everything and the sub works too. I never found the cause, but it has worked fine for several months now.
You can start by disconnecting all the speakers. If the receiver powers-up reconnect them one at a time to find the bad wire/speaker. If it is not the speakers, disconnect all attached devices. If the receiver still won't power-up go shopping for a new one. It is not worth repairing. It is less expensive to replace it.
Remember, always turn the power off and set volume to zero before disconnecting or connecting anything! You don't want to cause any damage.

Blown horn

Remove blown horn speaker and take it to a electronic shop and asked them to check with special speaker meter to see the condition of speaker widings.
