Hi solomon , I want to help you with your problem, but I need more information from you. Can you please add details in the comment box?

    Is the machine switching on?

If so, what lights come on?

Is there any display at all?

If so, what does it say>

Yes, very much its on only and all the movies are playing but no audio. And I have attached TV Tuner with my lap and all the TV channels i can view but without audio. In my lap, the power LED, battery lights are glowing in green. Nothing else on. And I am using Realtek High Defnition speaker as default. I checked all the properties nothing is in "Mute" mode.

Try removing all sound drivers and then reinstalling them.

I had a similar situation with my CF-53. Oddly, the speakers would not work, but headphones plugged into the port on the front of the laptop would. Could you verify that you get audio through the headphone port, please?

SOURCE: Panasonic CF-51 Toughbook Fn keys don't work at all

The following website contains the needed drivers:

https://eww.pavc.panasonic.co.jp/pc/cgi-bin/itn/toughbook/dl01.cgi

Select your model of CF-51 Toughbook, but you MUST be specific. There are about nine variations of the CF-51 so you must use the right drivers.

Download the hkeyapp, hkeyset, and hotkey files and unpack all files. Use the default unpack locations. If you download the files for a laptop version that is not your own, when you try to run any of these files the computer will tell you that the file is not for your model. If the files successfully unpack then you know you have the right files.

For hkeyset and hkeyapp you must run the set-up applications in the unpacked folders.

Go to Control Panel>System>Hardware>Device Manager and go to Other Devices.

The Hotkeys will appear as an "Unknown Devices" so if there is more than one, right click and choose "Update Driver".

Select "Install driver from specific location" and direct it to "C:\util2\drivers\hotkey" folder.

The computer will find the file and install the driver after which point you must restart the computer.

Hope this helps. It took me a while to figure this stuff out on my own so hope it speeds up somebody else's attempt.

SOURCE: I used the FN + Mute button on my panasonic cf-w5

Double-click the "volume control" icon, to open the "sound mixer" control. Move all the sliders to "maximum", and remove any "mute" check-boxes.

Do you have a "FN + something" key to increase the volume?

SOURCE: i used the fn then f4 button to mute my panasonic cf-y7

When booted into windows just hit fn and f4 again. That should unmute it. You can also look at the toolbar at the bottowm right corner. You should see an icon that looks like a speaker. Right-click and check to see if mute is checked. If so just uncheck it.

My Panasonic cf-w8 is mute? How do I unmute it? Does the Fn button have something to do with it?

Well the FN key could have set the mute on if the mute key was also pressed.

Click the megaphone at the bottom right near the time and open the audio properties and volume control. Check to make sure the mute is not checked.

You can also click Start/Control Panel and look for Audio or Sound and adjust to make sure the mute is not check.

On your keyboard if you Press and Hold the FN function key at the lower left portion of the keyboard then you can hit the key that has the megaphone with an X across it to take the mute off.

Some laptops have 3 buttons that control the volume. One for turning the volume up, one for turning the volume down and one for muting the volume.

Can't get monitor awake

Simple. If your using a seperate monitor for your laptop you need to transfer the screens over. To dot his press Fn F4 there should be a symbol that looks like a TV on your F4 button and some laptops have a Fn button to use that symbol if it isnt a Fn button than try shift. Or go into your control panel and you should find monitor settings there, but with my experience Fn F4 works

HP Compaq 2710p: External monitor does not display anything

Hi,

The display properties indicate the hardware is working, so it's likely just a setting.

On HP/Compaq models you will see a picture, usually on the F4 key that looks like a screen with two lines beside it.

You need to hold down the Fn key(bottom left) and then push the F4 key at the same time to cycle between LCD, external or both.
If it is a newer model, a menu will pop up when you do this asking if you want to duplicate the LCD on the external, switch to the external or extend the desktop onto the external. Select the appropriate setting or continue holding down Fn while pressing F4 to cycle between the settings to the one you want.

If you have re-installed the computer at some point with anything other than the factory recovery set this may not work and I will have to give you a longer set of instructions.

If this works please rate this as fixed, if not reply back and indicate what version of windows you're using and I will post the instructions for the "long" way.

How can I

Normally a laptop has an external video output in the form of S-Video, VGA, or HDMI. Once you have connected the laptop to the television through one of the available outputs. You will have to enable the external video out on the laptop. Normally this is done by pressing the FN and a labeled F key. Example: If the laptop was a HP you would press FN + F4 to enable the external monitor. Gateway, eMachines = FN + F4. Dell FN + F8. You will have to look at your keyboard close and look for what looks like a little monitor. That key + FN will most likely be how you enable the external monitor.

Once connected, you use the FN + F4(from example) to cycle through the video modes. The video modes are usually Laptop LCD and external monitor, external monitor only, Laptop LCD only,

If you would like to extend your desktop to the external monitor instead of clone the desktop than you will have to go into your display properties and click on the second monitor and check the box that states "extend the desktop onto this monitor". This will allow you to drag windows from the laptop LCD to the external monitor.
