My laptop is a mess! the Acer Aspire 3000 .Yesterday my notebook would not turn on! I had my father work on it and it was working well. But it lasted for about 10 minutes than it shut off. I hit the power button after this happened and this orange light comes on but the screen is pitch black. Today I tried to turn it and its the same thing with the orange light and the screen being pitch black. I tried taking the battery pack out and putting it back in nothing? what to do? another problem is when I've used the notebook it stays on for 15 minutes and it heats up you cant even sit it on your lap because its very hot? Why is that

you pc is in safemode , need to put it back in normal mode , when you start the pc , look at the back screen and read normal mode and move the cursor in to normal mode and click enter you might have 20 seconds to do it
i had the same problem. the battery does something during startup and the only way i found to fix it was to turn it on without a battery while its plugged into the adapter, or leave it in standby instead of shutting down... i dont know if theres a better way, but thats what i do.
try sensing if your cpu fan is working, it is under the power switch side, you can see small exhaust slots, put your hand beside it and feel if some air is coming out when you turn on your pc.
When you turn you pc on and only orange light blinks, it means that no power was getting into it, it blinks because no electrical power is coming from your power adapter and the battery is drained. Check your power adapter cable, this is the very cause why your pc is shutting down. usually the wire from the adapter to the pc is faulty.
checked sound driver in device manager.
most likely is software issue.
if your sound driver is ok in device manager and the sound isnot working, try to re-install the driver,
if it still not working, reload/re-install the operating system.
if after you re-install operating system, still not working, it might be your motherboard
