I have the same problem. My tv is about a year old and in the middle of a game a 3-4 inch wide black stripe came on between the top and the bottom of the screen. How do I get this off without bringing my tv to a techincian?

i also have a similar problem. the left edge of the screen has no picture. the local repair service thought it was a buffer board, but that didn't fix the problem. now they say that the plasma panel BN96-01886A has to be replaced at a cost of over $2,000. The total repair bill will be more than the cost of the tv. The tv was purchased in Feb. 2006. I have been told that the panel is not covered.

My 42" Samsung is exactly 2 years old. Just this week a 4" black stripe appeared from top to bottom about 6" in from the left of the screen.

My Samsung 42 in. Plasma TV worked perfectly for a little over 2 years, then one day I turned it on and got 2 vertical stripes. One is about an inch wide and the other is about 2 in. wide. They are about 10 in. from the left side and separated by about 2 in. I checked the Samsung site and found a similar problem that could occur, and the advise was that it was a circuitry problem. That sounds like big bucks. Called a service repair shop and they said Samsung was not real quick to supply parts.

My Plasma is a little over two years old. Ran great up until last week. We turned it on and up came a 1" black stripe top to bottom on the tv about 1/3rd in from the right hand side. Does Samsung cover under waranty if only 2.5yrs old?

I have the same black bar problem, TV was 6 months out of warranty when it started. Had a tech come out and said it needed a new panel - $2198 including labor. Called up Samsung to ask that they repair the TV and they opened a case to review. That was a month ago. Meanwhile I've been shopping for new TV's as I expected a them to do nothing. I called Samsung this morning to follow up and they said they are going to pay for the part!!! All I have to pay for is the labor ($250). Best customer service I have had in a long time from any large company! Give them a call, you never know what can happen.

My 4" black stripe was vertical down the middle. Tech estimate was $1850 for new panel, well above current replacement value. Samsung said I was on my own since the warranty was 1 year. The TV was purchased on a gold American Express card and they auto extend the warranty another year. Stripe appeared at 23 months. They are accessing whether they'll repair or pay replacement value now.

My TV is almost 2 years old and a black stripe about 4" wide is showing to the right of the screen. I hope the manufacturer can pay for the repair when I call them

Count me in as well. 22 months into ownership and I have a four inch vertical black strip on the left half of the television that is flickering red and then staying white. There seems to be too many people having this issue at the same time. I would hate to think that Samsung would not do anything about a television that costs over 2K that defects around 2 years old. My Sony tube has lasted over 10 years...

I have a amsung HP -R4252 about 30 months old and it has developed a 4" black stripe on teh left hand side of the screen.

I have the same issue, but my black strip is just to the right of center on the screen. My TV is just about 20 months old, and I did contact Samsung, and was told that it was my problem, as the TV is out of warranty, and I was told very rudely. I have since contacted the US corporate center and am awaiting a reply.

This problem is a bad panel it needs to be replaced in some cases the panel is under warranty. check your warranty.
also the E and F buffers could be at fault I would have these replaced first.

After two months of negotiating with Samsung they are gong to replace the panel. They are picking up the parts and labor on this 30 month old HP-R4252.

After 2 months of negotiating with Samsung's ECR (Executive Custoemr Realtions) team they have agreed to pay for the panel and associated labor. It took calm negotiating and stickingto my guns to get them to finally pay to repair a 30 month old set. My advice be polite, calm, firm and persistent!

Contact Samsung and demand a replacement television. With my situation, they had me take it to a repair shop and get an estimate. I was originally going to get nothing, then after several correspondence, only the parts for free since it was out of warranty (not too far out of warranty) and pay for labor. They decided it would be too expensive and difficult to find the part. They ended up letting me pay 350 for the same tv but 2 years newer. It is definitely worth the price since the labor alone would cost that.

Hope this helps!

I inherited my son's large plasma Sony TV which he purchased in 8/04 for over $2500. It has developed two black vertical stripes, separated about 10", in the middle of the screen. The warranty is no longer valid, so is it worth checking out the problem with a repair shop even if I could find one?

I inherited my deceased son's large plasma TV (Sony) which he purchased in 8-04 for over $2500 and shortly after setting up and using two 2" vertical stripes appeared in the middle (separated by about 10 inches). Sometimes they disappear, one, or both at a time, but will reappear later on. The warranty is not valid now but is it worth taking to the shop? behalfwright

Sounds like it could be a driver problem. I would try to update the driver from the Intel website, and see if that helps. If that doesn't work for you, then the screen itself or possibly the lcd cable or connection on the motherboard may be where the issue lies.

When printing, a black stripe is printed on the back side of the printed pages (about 1/4'' wide, running from top to bottom). The ink strip bleeds through to obscure printed side. Any suggestions?

You need to have the exit rollers cleaned at a shop, and a mylar strip added to keep that from happening again. It's the ink from the cleaning station backing up thru the exit rollers.

A bar code stripe on the right side of the copy.

i'm not sure if you're talking about a solid black band or a bunch of little stripes running down page. does it happen when you run an internal report or only on copies? if its a black solid band, check and make sure the bluish colored tab on top of the drum is all the way to the left side. if its a group of fine lines, depending on whether it happens on internal reports or not, it could be the drum is going bad or you may have a bad scanner. write back with a little more info if this suggestion doesn't work.

good luck,

42" Panasonic Plasma - Vertical red stripe 6" from left side

We originally had a red stripe roughly 3" wide running vertically on the ride edge area of our Panasonic 52" Viera plasma tv. It has now been joined by a solid black stripe of the same width running from the top to the bottom. Living in Germany and purchased at local PX long enough ago that the warranty is likely expired. Now what?

Ok did this happen the first time u turn on the TV. ? If so u might have a ribbon cable disconnect from the logic or u might have a defective Plasma panel.
