I partially damaged the screen (display) and after replacing it I couldn't get a proper on image on it. Funny thing was, when I put the damaged screen back on I couldn't get an image on that either. I say no image, but when booting either screen up, I could just make out a very very faint Acer Logo and Windows boot up sequence. So I know both screens are working. Have I perhaps damaged something else - the invertor or back-light for example when changing the screen? Or could my screen off-pin (when it's closed) be stuck or something? All advice much appreciated Thanks.
Thanks for your kind interest. The model no is MUAZOO. OOZ
The pic of the damaged of the damaged screen is the same in both instances - seemingly blank but showing faint traces of the boot up sequence (sorry I didn't know how to send it to you - can you help with that?) When I try to adjust the clarity or brightness (using the Function and the Sun-Sign key, I don't get any kind of change at all just the same blank screen. One thing I do get is the audio sound of the Acer/windows boot up sequence. I'm not as proficient as you...
Kind regards Leigh

Okay, here's the info as I know it. It's an acer 4315 Notebook, Model no. MUAKZ00. 002. The id on the inverter board is 19. 21072. 013. W06-A LF K.
It fell of the easy-chair arm and the damage was, the breaking up of a good half of the screen. Bought new screen, followed disassembly instructions to the letter. Disassembled the bezel, screen, inverter board etc. then reversed disassembly put it back together and switched on. Then - nothing. No image, no kind of backlight. Whereas the damaged screen had performed as usual up until that point. And, what I booted up my damaged screen, There definate was the very faint boot up image 'behind' the blank screen, (you wouldn't see it on a photo - except as a blank screen, but the boot-up image was definately there) and what I could hear was windows booting up. Seller on Ebay said it was a classic inverter fault. But I need a second opinion on this, before I put my cash on the line. If you need any more info - get in touch. Thanks mate. Leigh

Many occasions LCD on camera display never fails but back light fails unless physical damage to LCD screen. Hold a torch to display when camera is on you will see faint(black and white) image means LCD is ok but back light is failed, it's replaceable but needs little skill to replace. Or replace full Screen with backlight. This is easy. Just remove back cover, remove display by loosening flex lock, put back new display carefully lock it holding flex with one finger. Please do not touch display flex contacts.
Try connecting the laptop to an external monitor first. If this works, you can eliminate the Graphics chip as a source of your problems. If it fails to work on an external, the graphics chip on the motherboard has possibly gone bad.
If it does work, you have 3 possible problems:
The VGA cable has been damaged (unlikely)
The inverter has gone, you can check this by seeing if you can see a faint image on the screen in a darkened room, if you cannot, probably the inverter is at fault and will need replaced
The backlight has gone on the screen, if you CAN see a faint image, then the screen is getting power but the lamps are not lighting, you will need to replace the screen of the laptop.
Look at the LCD screen very closely and check if you can see a faint image on the screen. It's possible that the LCD lid close switch stuck in the "closed" position and the back-light stays off even when you open the LCD screen or turn on the laptop. The switch turns off the back-light when you close the LCD display to save the laptop battery power.
If that didn't fix it then there are 3 things that could have gone wrong:
1. Video cable connection from inverter to LCD got loose. To check this, follow instructions from step 3 on how to open the LCD and check if cable is fitted properly.
2. The video inverter is faulty The screen inverter failure is very similar to the back-light lamp failure. In both cases the screen gets very dark and the image on the screen becomes very faint, barely visible under a bright light. If it's still under warranty, take it for a replacement. You can replace this otherwise - you can find the inverter under the screen, follow the procedure described at point 3 to open up the screen.
3. The LCD monitor is faulty If it works on an external monitor most likely the LCD is faulty and needs replacement. If it's still under warranty, take it for a replacement. If not, you can do it yourself, it's pretty easy. Remove the rubber covers on the side of the screen, unscrew the screws take the plastic cover off, disconnect the video inverter and put in the new LCD after you connect the video inverter to it.

Send the monitor. It's a power supply problem. My 15.4" LCD has the problem, too, whenever I move the monitor down, it powers off, and the menu disappears as well, but I'm going to fix the screen.
