Toshiba 46in Rear Projection TV Model#46H83

When I turn on the television it won't come on at all, the red light just flashes and there is only a clicking sound.  A repairman can out and said the power supply board and the power deflection board needed to be replaced for $350.00 dollars.  Is this true?  Also he took the board out of the tv and now two weeks later after several dozen unanswered calls and no show appointments, I do not have a tv.  Can I call someone else and have them replace the power supply and deflection board? Was this really the problem?

We were watching the tv one day and the picture collapsed to the middle and went black. The red power light was blinking and the tv itself was making a clicking noise. The 1st repair guy said it needed a new transistor..he ordered one from Toshiba, it worked for 2 weeks leaving a pink line in the middle of the picture (repair man said it was because the bulbs burned that line there when the picture collapsed). I called them back out when it went out again and they put in another transistor thinking the 1st one was defective. (these took 4 weeks to get by the way). Again, worked for 2 weeks then went black again. Called Sperry TV out and they said another part needed to be fixed. They ordered it, when he put it in, something blew and he said, "I think the other repair main sabotaged your tv." Sperry ordered 3 parts thinking this would solve the problem and it didn't. He now says they need to take the tv into their shop, do a probe (which will cost me $159 even if they can't fix it), and then go from there. Metro, the 1st repair place, said I needed to replace all the bulbs for it to be fixed...the 3 big bulbs in the tv which are about $250 each. I don't know who to believe, I think one of them ruined my tv when it could have been a simple fix, and now I don't know what I should do. When I bought the tv it was almost $4000.00 so I kinda feel like I should pay to have it fixed instead of buying a new one...what can I do?

Sammy jo ,you burnt the tubes by leaving it on with a vertical collaspe faultmnow you have three damaged tubes,i also think that you also have a bad yoke which is taking out the new parts ,the cost is within reason, the shop repair is to insprct it deeped for possible other faults and damage already done.

Apple tv has no sound on my toshiba 46h83 tv

How are you connected and in what way? You should be able to rule the set in or out:

First: does the set have sound with only a DVD player connected to a rear input?

Second: are the speakers turned to OFF in the main menu?

give as much information as you can so I may be able to help.

Have vertical lines across the tv. Started as something that happened right when I turned the tv on (for 5 mins or so). Now it's all the time. Toshiba 46H83

you more than likely have a bad panel inside of your tv. you can have someone repair it but it's not recommended as it's pretty expensive. You should just invest in a new tv.

that usualy means a red picture tube they break down
one way to tell turn the red screen control counter clockwise and see if you can control the tube gain
and then you can lightly tap on crt neck and i do mean carfuly and see if it flashes it most likely will and you would need to change the crt and reset it up

Most likely your convergence IC's are bad along with the two 5 amp pico fuses on the board to the left up front.
