Kodak i1420 Pass-Through Scanner Logo
Anonymous Posted on Dec 12, 2013

Images have a streak of color in the middle

There are several wide streaks of color through the vertical center of a color image we try to scan. We use the i1420 and the companion A3 Flatbed. We have tested and had similar results with 2 different flatbeds and the i1420, so it's not a hardware issue. So maybe settings? We have tried virtually all related setting combos, options, etc. with no success. When we scanned some color documents recently, we used background fill and we did not see the streaks. When we scan in BW there is no streak. When we scan in greyscale, there are streaks of shading.

Hi,

The problem you describe sounds like moire.

Try scanning the image at different resolutions until the effect disappears.

Testimonial: "I've tried that and there's no difference in the scans. I've tried 72-1200 psi and they all have the same basic outcome just different file sizes."

SOURCE: i620 scanner

Is the scanner scanning normally otherwise? Try scanning a printed matter with white background and if it is okay, then the streaking may be because of excess brightness chosen. Check if the paper movement is at constant speed. If it is smooth paper, it may slip and the same area may scanned again, appearing like a streak.

I have been having trouble printing my red. My letterhead contains a red "A" in it and a few other items have red. Normally, the red items have pink, yellow or white vertical streaks through...

Replace the magenta image unit. Yellow image unit also and for the white streaks have the glass that cover the laser cleaned.

Hp Photosmart c5280 1/ 2inch thick black line

There is something on your scanner glass. Clean the glass with glass cleaner. If this happens when using the automatic document feeder, open the top side cover where the paper feeds into. There is a narrow glass strip there. Clean that as well.

If this fails, the scanner head has a bad sector on the CCD and will need to be replaced. You will probably find that it will be cheaper to replace the printer entirely if that is the case.

CANON DR 7580 SCANNER : SCANNED IMAGE HAS A LIGHT STREAK DOWN THE CENTER. LOOKS LIKE THE IMAGE IS FADED APPROX INCH WIDE RUNNING VERTICAL. DOESN'T HAPPEN ON EVERY IMAGE

Assuming the document going through the scanner looks normal, there are a few things to check. If you open Capture Perfect, you can adjust the contrast and brightness as well as the thresholds. Sometimes different toners react differently to the scanner...paper is a big thing too. Multi-part forms can be tricky to get the settings adjusted so you pick up enough of the text but not that on the other side. If it's still messing up, you can try and get it serviced. Ikon is nationwide and can help out.

Hp 4550 vertical line down center of page

From the service manual:

Vertical lines or streaks
Check for a leak where light might be entering the printer.
Check for circumferential scars on the photosensitive drum. If scars are present, replace the
drum cartridge if the line goes through all colors.
Check for circumferential scars on the upper fusing roller. If scars are present, replace the upper
fusing roller if the line goes through all colors.
Remove the imaging drum and inspect main charger or imaging drum for a contaminant, such as
a fiber, if the line goes through all colors.
CAUTION Do not expose the imaging drum to light for more than 15 seconds. The drum is light sensitive, and
exposure to light can cause permanent damage.
Vertical black lines
 The toner cartridge is defective.
The toner cartridge is not seated properly.
 The fuser entrance is dirty.
The fuser has scratches on it.
This might be a repetitive defect. If so, the lines will repeat at a consistent interval down the page.
The printer needs to be cleaned.
There is a problem in the heating element.
Vertical white lines
If white lines or streaks appear only in the black areas of the printed media, print several
configuration pages to clear the anomaly. If this does not clear the problem, check the sleeve
surface to confirm the defect, then replace the black toner cartridge.
If white lines appear only in a particular color, try printing several configuration pages to clear the
error. If the error does not clear, check the sleeve surface to confirm the defect, then replace the
defective toner cartridge.
There is a lack of toner or the toner cartridge is faulty.
There is dirt in the laser path.
 The fuser is defective.
A mirror in the laser scanner is dirty.
