Question about Pioneer AVIC-N2 Car DVD Player

Backlight won't work on screen

I had my Avic N2 for about 3 years and I been riding with the backlight off for about 1 of those years. It just went out one very cold day my car barely cranked up. After the car did crank up, I noticed the screen was blank but the touch still worked. Good thing I had more screens in my car or I would have panicked. I think it's about time I learn how to fix or replace the backlight on this unit so I can discard the other screens I have in my car. Can someone help me ether A. explain how I fix the backlight problem, B. Replace what ever it is I have to replace to get the backlight back on or C. let me know if there is a Chicago IL Pioneer repair show that knows how to fix em (I rather drive to them and wait for it to me done than ship the unit to someone and be without a radio for how ever long). Any help would be greatly appreciated. THANK YOU IN ADVACE!

Sounds like the flex cable has failed. I have the N1 and when the flex cable snapped, the screen still worked, but the backlight is off. Pioneer issued a recall of the flex for N1 and N2's. They will fix it for free.

My pioneer avic-n1 screen was working fine and then the next day the screen went blank but, everything still works
it sounds like the flexible cable that goes from the main board to the monitor might be bad.

I have a pioneer avic-f900bt and it keep turning off. it powers up for a couple of seconds and then it shuts off what could that be please help me.
I appear to have the same issue with mine. I purchased mine from Audio Itch in Tampa, Fl in December of 2008 and had them install it with an amp and speakers. Worked fine for almost exactly a year. Upon starting up my car, it powered up and gave the system powering up notice, then went blank. Rebooting with the small restart pinhole button sometimes works, but most of the time it will start powering up again, then shut off????

No, There are two places to look for the problems, the backlight inverter board and the power supply. Look at the power supply first since it is easier to get to, look for burnt parts, bad capacitors, etc.

Avic n-2 blank screen==cable upgrade done year ago
I have seen Pioneer replaced ribbon cables fail in as little as 3 months. Rick on Ebay guarantee his cables for life or as long as you own it. His company name is Same Day Audio Services and he is very reliable. He will do it for around $100. Pioneer only replace it free for the first time, after that they might charge up to $220. Good luck.
PS. I fix service and sell the Avic N series on Ebay.I get my part from Rick, mention Hogan from Utah and you might get a discount.

Static from radio only sometimes,Act's like a loose connection. You can thump on dash it stops. But it will come back. I have heard pioneer has had a recall on this anybody know about it. Oh it does not have a loose connection we have double and triple checked.

AVIC-N2 dies after year and a half
Contact Tech Support for Pioneer. They have a call back on the Flex Cable which is the source of all your problems. It took 2-3 weeks for the repairs. Although, now I have a problem with the screen rolling out.
