Why do I have no cold start, but fires a little

When I do get car started it surges & runs rich till it warms up but runs fairly good. After its warm. Now it will restart up till 3 hrs. After it cools down I'm back to no cold start. I installed new gas filter and new fuel pump. New Timing chain.used distribiter, new CTS Engine Coolant Temp Sensor.Cleaned MAF removed fuel injectors & cleaned with carb & fuel Ing cleaner. New MSD coil, cap and rotor in 2011 coil has maybe 10,000 KM??. Also when cranking sell gas and last time I tryed to start car I was bumping up car 3-5 times crank than off & on too much fuel backfired very loud!!!

Another thing that can cause this is the carb. It may be getting too much fuel once it's warmed up. An engine needs more fuel when it's cold than it does when it's warm. Cold engines run inefficiently so they need more raw fuel to fire-up, and stay running. This is all a choke does. A choke plate closes-off the air going into the carb which makes the fuel mixture really rich so it can run. Less air = more fuel. You'll also notice that cars with chokes also idle real high until they warm-up. This fast idle and the over rich mixture (due to lack of air), allows the engine to fire up and stay running. As the engine warms-up and starts burning fuel more efficiently, the choke plate begins to open, which slowly lets more air in and leans-out the air/fuel mixture. Once the engine is warmed-up, the choke plate will be wide open allowing the carb to run as it is supposed to with the correct metering of fuel and air.

Hi my pulsar idles/drives allryt till it gets warm then when its warmed up it want idle at all and when you cruse it missis and compresor surges but put your foot up it and it goes fine

Please check your fueling system. While clod car need rich AFR, in contrary while engine hot , your car need lean AFR. This why your car is running bad while engine cold.

Starts good on a cold start. As it warms up, it

Sounds like the automatic choke is sticking.

92 mitsubishi libero, engine surges downward in cold air, when accelerator pushed engine suffocates. difficult starting cold.check engine light on when warm, runs fine in warm weather or city driving

DIFFICULT STARTING CAR IN COLD.WOULD BE A THERMO - TIME SWITCH.THE THERMO TIME SWITCH CONTROLS THE AMOUNT OF TIME THE COLD START VALVE IS HELD OPEN BY MEASURING THE COOLANT TEMPERATURE AND UTILIZING A TIME FUNCTION TO PREVENT AN OVER RICH CONDITION.THIS COULD BE MOST OF YOUR PROBLEM.BUT SCAN IT TO SEE WHAT PCM CODE YOU ARE GETTING.

Cranks too long to start hot,and smell fuel when it does,

Definately overfueling. Don't apply any gas pedal when starting. lightly tap and crank. If still does it, fuel pressure regulator malfunction- good luck It should fire up without give it fuel. not like the good ole cars.

i know this may sound stupid but if your battery is old or a little weak on this vehicle the idle air control solenoid will act speradicley hunting for were it should be and the vehicle will stall.replace battery

Only starts when cold

I'm not familiar with your truck but this sounds like a cold-start valve that is stuck and allowing excessive gasoline into the intake system. If this is the case, you probably have miserable gas mileage right now since the engine would be running rich continuously.
Starting it warm, probably is causing some mild flooding and getting the plugs wet so they can't fire.
Try this: with the engine hot/warm; press the accelerator slowly all the way down, then try starting it. If it starts this way, this would be an indication that the engine is getting too much fuel for its temperature and opening the air supply fully helps to change the air-fuel ratio sufficiently to allow it to start.

Engine surges when cold - Once it warms up it runs fine

If carburated, I would suspect a sticking choke, making the fuel mix way too rich.
