Need help with my printer

The problem i am having is that, i can't get not thing to print because a picture of a phone keep showing up. cause-ing the print not to come through. please help. i have home work from school to do .

This suggests the device is set to FAX mode - reset to computer/ print mode.
How you do this is down to reading the manual  - as usual

Unable to print and keeps on banging from side to side

first of all it require servicing like cleaning of steel rod inside in the printer on which print heads move ,that you can do with lubricant oil and second thing you need to change the cartridges if you can do this entire thing well otherwise I advised you to show it service center.

Our Genicom Tally printer fails to keep settings. The model type is 6312. What could be the problem?

There may be a number of reasons for the 6312 failing to keep your settings, the first thing to identify would be that you have changed the settings on the printer and then saved these settings. If you do not save the settings to a menu / configuration they will be lost if the printer is powered off or receives a reset command.

Once you have made your settings changes, the settings can be saved in the following way;

Ensure the pritner is OFFLINE
Press Menu
Press Up Arrow until display shows Config Menu
Press Enter
Press Up Arrow until display shows Configurations
Press Enter
Press Up Arrow until display shows Save
Press Enter
Press Up Arrow until the Config Number Or Name appears that you want to save the settings to (Default is Confg 1)
Press Enter
Press Clear, to return to Offline mode.

If you save your settings you can then print a configuration report to see the values that have been saved, this can be done in the following way;

With the printer OFFLINE
Press the Menu key
Press any Arrow key until display shows Config Menu.
Press the Enter key.
Press any Arrow key until display shows Printer.
Press the Enter key.
Press any Arrow key until display shows Report.
Press the Enter key.
Press any Arrow key until display shows All Configs.
Press the Enter key and the configurations will be printed.

This should show your saved settings, try powerign th epritner off and back on again and again print the Congfig report to check the settings are retained.

If you find the settings appear to change when you print to the printer this will be caused by your print job, escape commands in the print job will take presidence over the printer menu settings.
You would need to check the host computer system to see what might be causing the problem; chack page size, fonts, ensure the correct printer driver is used etc on the system.

My printer keeps printing from rear tray when i want it to print from the cassette. all settings for the print are set to cassette printing, and yet it still insists on trying to print from the rear. It is...

Most of those have a button marked feed switch and a picture with a LED that either shows rear or bottom tray. You need to select the right tray on the printer panel.

you may have put in a faulty cartridge. It happens often and you may have to buy a new cartridge.

Printing in colour

You need a NEW Print head, the cartridge may also cause this problem, however most likely the
problem is from the printhead(it's the thing the ink tanks fit into inside printer). I hope this helps, good luck. You could also run a deep cleaning and use real Canon inks and that would help as well.

Apart from the obvious that the printer might be faulty, have you tried updating the driver software on the pc?

What operating system are you running? Is it Windows XP? Another thing is to check the disk space on the pc. If there is no spooling space, it might cause this. If Windows XP, go to start button, my computer and right mouse click the hard drive symbol and select properties. That wll show you how much free space there is. If there is little or no free space, you have to delete some files Eg pictures or things you might no longer need. Also try to test the printer on another pc if you can. That way you can tell if it's a printer or pc related fault. Rgds,

Hi FixYa team,
Thank you for your mail. No, I didn't find a solution to my problem yet. I also contacted the Canon Support and got some suggestions and questions like: What inks are being used in the printer? Have to state the type of ink that is being used and the order that the tanks are installed in the print head. I also have to provide the exact part number (such as BCI-6C, PG-40, etc.) imprinted on the ink cartridge.

I have to complete two deep cleanings, and perform another
Nozzle Test. If colors are still missing, I have to turn off the printer. After
24 hours, turn the printer on and perform one more Deep Print Head
Cleaning. Once the cleaning is complete, print another Nozzle Test.
After I have completed the Nozzle Test, I have to let them know the

I haven't done all these things yet, so when I have I then will know whether or not the printer works. If not, the only other solution is to buy another printer, which will probably be an Epson, 'cause I'm not too happy with this Canon one.

Before I go into your solution I have to mention a few things first. Your printer software utility has multifunction printing capabilities. What I mean is you can print on thin paper , thick paper , and even glossy paper. I would go into your settings for your printer specifically for pictures or graphics and see what the paper thickness size is set for. Compair this to your setting for normal text printing and change your picture and graphics settings so it matches your text printing. I would also check on your printer some have a flip switch to set the printing head height. If it is selected low this could also cause scratching.
