TV red spot

I have Hitachi SP60WS LCD projection TV, the center of the screen has large red glow to it which has been gradually growing in size over time. visible when the picture back ground is dark and can be very visible upon turning the TV off. Changing the light source (bulb) did not help.

Poor picture no color

OUCH! LARGE DARK SPOT IN CENTER IS NOT GOOD FOR PROJECTION TV. YOU BURNT THE TUBES. THE LOSS OF COLOR IS THE ROOT CAUSE SOUNDS LIKE A DEFLECTION CIRCUIT PROBLEM. THE TIMING FEEDBACK IS USED TO SYNC THE COLOR CIRCUIT. IF THE TUBES LIGHT WITHOUT DEFLECTION THEY BURN THE CENTER PHOSPHOR COATING INSIDE.

I have a red glow in the middle of the screen and the color is dim. It has been gradually getting worse as the year has gone on. Is this a bulb issue or a convergence issue?

Hi,
This is light engine issue, light engine produce image and project it front screen of TV.
I'm afraid light engine replacement would cost you much, $1000 plus, check with local tech for estimate.
Thanks.

Hitachi rear projection LCD with yellow blobs on screen

I have the same tv and the same problem, but my yellow is a cloud around the outside of the screen. My tv was recently moved, and a repair shop told me that sometimes in a move these tvs light engine takes a shock and causes a yellow "band" on the screen. I am hearing that these light engines are not cheap either. Hope this helps you.

My Hitachi 60VG825 projection TV is 3 years old. For the past several months the screen has been turning blue around the outer edges & this past week a large yellowish green spot the size of a...

Sounds like Calibration is needed on the projection internals. Your TV uses a rear-projection system and the problem is either in the imaging LCD Unit or the light filter. I see in a previous thread you have changed the bulb. You can invest in a voltage regulator to keep the hardware in factory condition.
Also you can burn a DVD of a stuck pixel remedy video and run it on the screen with full brightness and full contrast. This is used for plasma burns and stuck pixels on conventional Flat panel TVs but can repair color issues with projection systems. This therapy is focused on the imaging unit between the projector and the main drop of your tv.

Tv screen has a red/orange glow in the middle -should be black

I have the exact same problem. I had purchased a new lamp shortly after the warranty expired and never needed to use it. I decided to install it today to see if that helped with the red glow. No difference. Someone else posted that when the TV is moved (we just moved from Canada to the US) it can misalign or damage some component. Still trying to figure out what that is...probably cost more to fix that a new TV!!!

Same problem

The red death as its called.

Very common in the 50v500 and 50v700 series.

it is caused by a blocked filter deep inside the TV, nearly inaccessible.

The LCD panels overheat (red one or blue one) and the light engine needs to be replaced.

You are better off living with it unless you have a warranty.

Sorry it wasn't better news.

Hitachi ultravision 60" LCD with red glow in center

I emailed Hitachi and they sent a new light engine to my local electronics store that they do business with. All I had to pay for was the installation which was today. I did not have to pay for the part or shipping. My tv is just like new again and the red glow is gone. I did not realize how bad it had gotten. Do not call the regular customer service because they cannot or do not want to help.
