When opening any pdf file internet explorer gets stop working and browser restart. Reader.exe faulty module

It is happening on Windows7 Operating System and Internet Explorer 9. When opening any pdf file through browser its stop working whereas any file opening from physical drive its open.

Check for any updates and optional updates in control panel.
Run Windows Update in Windows 7

Using Windows Update in Windows 7 keeps your laptop and desktop computer safer.
Microsoft periodically releases updates and security fixes.

By loading these updates, you are keeping your Windows computer safe from viruses, spyware and malware.

With Windows Update, you have the ability to download updates and choose when to install, automatically have updates applied, check for updates only and/or never check for updates.

Click "Start," "All Program" "Windows Update."
Alternatively, you can click the "Start" orb and type Windows Update in the instant search box.

Windows Update appears in the list for you to choose.
Click "Check for updates;" it is located on the left hand-side of the open window.

Windows 7 begins checking for updates.
They are categorized as important and optional.

Fix Adobe Acrobat or Reader 9 Crash on Internet Explorer 7 Problem

Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Reader 9 enable the computer to view PDF files.
These applications also install an add on, or plug in a small software that adds extra features to a programto Internet Explorer 7, enabling IE7 to load PDF files from within the browser.

If conflicting add-ons are installed to the browser, or if the Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Reader software is not properly installed, however, IE7 will crash whenever it attempts to load a PDF.

Open Internet Explorer.
Hold down "Alt" to show all of the toolbars.

Click "Tools" from the menu bar.
Click "Internet Options."

Go to the "Advanced" tab.
Click "Reset" to revert the Internet Explorer 7 settings to default.

Click "OK."
Restart Internet Explorer after resetting the browser.

Return to the "Tools" menu and click "Manage Add-ons."
Wait for all of the add-ons to load in the right pane, then look through the list to find the add-ons labeled "BHO" or "Browser Helper."

Click each add-on with "BHO" or "Browser Helper" in the name, then click "Disable." Restart IE when finished.

Download the Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Reader 9 software from the Adobe website, if you do not already have the setup program on your computer or on disc.

Click "Start."
Click "Control Panel."

Click "Programs," then click "Programs and Features."
Scroll to "Adobe Acrobat" or "Adobe Reader 9."

Right-click the program. Select "Uninstall" from the context menu.
Follow the onscreen directions to remove the software from the computer, then restart the PC.

Log back in to Windows and click "Start."
Click "Computer."

Navigate to the folder where the Adobe setup file is saved or insert the Adobe Acrobat CD.
If the file is saved on the computer, double-click the file to launch the installer.

Follow the onscreen prompts to reinstall the plug-in to Internet Explorer 7.
Restart the PC when the installation is complete.

Open Internet Explorer 7 after booting to Windows.
Open a PDF file from within the browser to test the browser.

Is it ssagent or ssvagant? Ssagent is System Scanner Agent Module for System Scanner for Windows by Internet Security Systems.
If it was ssvagent, that is a component of Java Platform. That error comes with ssvagent as I know. If so, this procedure will help to get rid of the error. Its a bug of a component wit Java Runtime.

  • Run IE as the Administrator.
  • Click on Tools -> Manage Add-ons -> Enable or Disable Add-ons.
  • Click on SSVHelper Class and select Disable under Settings.

Description of the Bug.
If you are having a problem with Ssagent instead, please check the settings to make sure that you haven't blocked any program. Scan your machine for Viruses and Malware.

If you have the same operating system, same internet explorer version (from any page click the help button on top of page and select "about internet explorer" to see), and same version of Adobe reader then you might consider running a virus scan. I.E is a target for malware.

It simply means there's no PDF reader installed on your computer. Or if it's already installed, then there must be some default pdf reader recently set incorrectly to another application/program. If you are sure that there's a pdf reader, like adobe reader, foxit reader, etc..etc.. installed on your computer, follow the steps below:
Right click the pdf file (i guess you've downloaded the pdf file), click "properties", there you'll see a "change" or "Browse" button on the general tab, click change or browse and locate the program to open the pdf file, select it and click "Ok" then "Apply", close the dialog box and double-click the pdf file, it'll open without any problem. You can also directly open the file on your internet browser like Internet Explorer, Google chrome or Firefox etc..etc.. Simply right-click the pdf file and select "Open with" and browse the internet browser and click it.


If in case you need a pdf reader to open the file, click here to download adobe reader. Open the link, click "Download" proceed with the onscreen instructions and install the program, if you are asked to confirm whether this problem to be made the default pdf reader, confirm it and and finish the installation by clicking finish. Now open the pdf file, there'll be no more issues.

What program should i use to open files they dont open with internet explorer


A file is usually open by the computer only when the associated program is installed in the system. The associated program recognize the file extension and open it.

For Example :A notepad file will be open by Notepad editor untill and unless you cange it to open with other program.

Microsoft Word can open a notepad file too.

Files usually you will find or will downloaded from internet are usually .exe, .rar, .zip, mp3, .avi, pdf etc.

I recommended, you installed these few softwares

1. Adobe Flash player.

While loading/viewing a web-page, using Microsoft Internet Explorer Version 7, under Windows Vista (4=WindowsNT, 5=Windows2000, 7=Windows7), it "crashed".

Try the same web-page from another computer also running Vista and IE7. If it works, then something on your computer is the problem.

Restart your computer, and try again to access the same web-page.
If you get the same problem, upgrade to Internet Explorer 8, and try again.
If you still get the same problem, contact the author of the web-page, and get them to investigate.

Internet explorer hangs when opening a pdf file using dragon


The browser addon called adobe pdf reader is causing this problem,

Goto Tools Manage addons and you will find the Adobe pdf reader, I suggust you disable this reader,

Now a trick that works is to restart the browser then goto Adobe website at http://get.adobe.com/uk/reader/.

You may have to goto add and remove programs from the control panel and remove adobe reade and reboot then try the link above.

I suggest, please upgrade Adobe Reader 7.0 to 9.0 Professional, everything will work perfect.

Explorer.exe uses all available CPU


Norton anti-virus is a resource HOG. Disable it from running at start-up. It may be trying to download updates as the pc is booting. Use AVG anti virus, it is free and works very well.

Adobe reader error message


In Internet Explorer, when you click on a link to a pdf file,
you get the error message “Adobe Reader could not open ‘filename.fdf’ because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been corrupted.”


This error is due to an issue with Adobe Acrobat viewing PDF files in a web browser.
Try the following:

1. Open Internet Explorer, go to Tools -> Internet Options and on the General tab to erase all temporary files, cookies and history data.
2. Under Internet Explorer -> Tools -> Internet Options, on the General tab click on Settings and make sure you select the option “Automatically” for checking for newer versions of the stored pages. Then attempt to open the PDC file again.
3. If solutions 1 and 2 do not work then uninstall Adobe Acrobat, then reinstall it again.
It seems that Acrobat 6 is more prone to this error so upgrading to Acrobat 7 may solve the problem.
