Dell printer drivers try to 'phone home' with Ink usage stats .. even if you select 'no' when asked, they still try to access the Internet ..on install the driver modifies Microsoft Vista Firewall settings to permit this ...
So if you recently installed a non-Microsoft Firewall eg. ZomeAlarm your print driver will be denied access to the web and will refuse to print.
Note that 'deny' is different from 'time-out' ... to test turn off your wireless (or remove the ethernet cable) and ONLY THEN turn off your firewall - if it now starts printing you have your solution (go into Zone Alarm and Enable all Dell & MS print related software access to the Internet).
DO NOT browse the web with your Firewall turned off !!!!

I have a problem with my Dell 720, I unpluged power lines, and repluged
the lines. printer starts but will not print, checked paper .
what could be the problem?
My printer was completely erased from my computer; i went through the steps and reinstalled it, tried almost everything, but it won't print, it's like it's not even connected to my computer... I've tried all the USB ports, on the front and on the back of my computer, can't figure out what else could be wrong
