CD Player skipping or stopping

My experience with CD/DVD players has been, unfortunately, that when the trays stop opening and/or closing, or when error messages start regularly, it's history. Hope yours turns out differently, but I wouldn't count on it. It will cost you as much or more to fix it than to replace it. if you live near a large junkyard you might try to retrieve one there, but the fact that your car is 13 yrs. old will make that tougher.

Sounds to me like you have a faulty kill switch on the lid, may be loose or dirty

Make sure the unit is mounted level and not to secured that its pinching down on the unit

Your cd player is fubar and in definite need of replacement.
Tape unit seems to have a mind of its won. Try to reset the electronics to factory defaults. If that has no remedy, since it is a sony< best advise is to trash it. Repair cost is prohibitively expensive.

The skipping happens because the lens is weak,to solve this problem open the cd player so you can see the lens.Clean the lens with cotton wool dabbed in a little methylated spirit(wipe carefully).This should stop the skipping.

If the skipping continues then the lens is too weak to play CD's so it is best that you change the lens of your CD player.

Your LG dvd player's lens might need cleaning. It is having a hard time reading those cds that is why it sometimes skips or just stops in the middle of playing them. Does this happen also to new cd's? Sometimes cleaning those cds helps the lens reading them.

If you have a disk cleaner, you can run that for 30 seconds on your player. It that does not help, then you might need to open your DVD player's casing and clean the lens manually by opening your player, get a soft cotton earbud and damp in an alcohol and gently wipe your dvd's lens. Then try to return back everything and test playing cd.

Still under warranty?... check that.

Try to use a cleaning cd to clean the cd player otherwise it may be about time for your cd player to die

u need to manually clean the lens using cotton buds(no fluid or solution) extra care! hope this help u...
