Symptoms of a Defective or dying Power supplies on LCD TVs.
1. Light(s) on the front panel are behaving not normal example, blinking, amber color or not steady, fainting, etc.
2. TV not turning ON properly.
3. TV turns OFF by itself.
4. Needs to be unplug to many times to make it work.
5. Humming or high pitch noise heard through speakers or at the back of the TV.

I have the same problem,bought from SAMS club on 07/12/2007.Called Akai,they wanta reciept and I will hav e to ship it to CA.Kindly let me know what is the alternate?
I have the same problem. Bought from Sam's about a year ago and now the screen stays black but you can hear the movie. Akai is a joke to deal with on the phone. Will NEVER buy another AKAI!! If anyone knows who locally (Oklahoma City,OK) does repairs please respond. Thanks
If i turned it off it was real had to get back on we could up plug it and it would finally come on now the green light comes on the goes off 4 months old I faxed the recept 2 time they said that they did not get it . DON'T BUY AKAI
SAME PROBLEM HERE, TV IS LESS THAN 2 YEARS OLD. DONT BUY AKAI EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT A PIECE.
Same problem - when turn power on, light turns green, then turns to red ahd you hear a thumping sound like someone is bouncing a basketball close to the ground. have tried to turn of power swithc multiple times and restart using power button on remote. NO luck eithe way. TV is 3 years old now.
i have a 27" same model green light changes right back to red.no noise.
i push the power button abt. 50 times it will finally come on.less than 2 yrs. old. i would not recommend akai to anyone.
same problem turn power on standby light changes to green a second later back to red!
