SOURCE: Player does not recognize or play CDs

Thats how some manufacturers sell there replacement parts as they come into the country assembled. it cost let to import but more for us. i once needed a spindle motor for a unit, no replacement except the manufacturer part. Had to buy entire laser assy and thats what they bare selling you too. If you already tryed to manualy clean the lens, look on the side of the laser pick-up. it might be made by sony or a popular manufacturer go by the number printed on the label on the side or bottom of the laser assy unit itself. Good Luck

SOURCE: Dvd doesnt play but cds do

Hi

The problem might be due to hardened greasing. Did You replace the drive or only the laser? The mechanism is named VED-0378, which is also the name of the laser. It is a Panasonic/matsushita thing. Try to google the name and find a dealer near your area, if you can't find it this polish electronic pusher is able to deliver both laser or mechanism: www.impelshop.com

Best regards and good luck! The Denon thing is worth a try.

SOURCE: Denon 3910 won't load some dvds/cds and vibrates while trying.."disc error"!

I have the Denon 2900 (about 4 years of use) and until recently, suffered from the same (growing) problem. CD's were very difficult to start/read. I recently found advice which I tried and was succesful with. It was manually cleaning the laserlens. I took away the outer housing by unscrewing all off the on top (6), side (4) and the back (2) bolts. After that I took out the top plate of the laserunit which took two very little screws taking out. Now you are looking at the cd-tray with the lens. Take a very soft and clean cloth and moisten it a little bit with clean water (be very carefull with the moistening, don't allow any waterdrop to come out of the cloth into the laserlens while cleaning! Carefully clean the lens and dry it with a dry part of the same cloth. Replace the top plate and the outer housing and the player will recognize the discs like it's new again. Good luck! SOURCE: Denon s301 wont play new

Simple thought... are you trying to play a Blu-Ray Movie disk on a Denon that not Blu-Ray Compatable? That would do it.

Plays cds but not dvds

If the lens is clean (clean with cotton swab and alcohol), then the optics are failing. DVDs require more power and accuracy to be read than CDs. The ability to read CDs but not DVDs is usually a good indication that the optics are starting to fail.

Sony CX995v "Cannot Play" message on DVDs but plays CDs O.K.

Hi...
The laser goes thru a different lens arraignment for DVDs.
Take it to a TV shop and have them "blow out" the laser assembly with some CO2 and clean the lens.
