I am so sorry but you should have claimed that on insurance. The amount of damage to all the solid state items in that set would mean that you are going to be replacing everything.

Just taken mine in for repair and was told this. "After checks to Switching and Data flow to PDP, Suspect the Plasma display panel to be at fault
which also may well have caused damage to the buffer and logic boards."
I am presently trying to get currys to replace it as it 18 months old.
Forgot to say was quoted £1200 to fix!!!!

SOURCE: plasma TV with vertical lines

Help! My Plasma by Magnavox is putting black verticle lines on the right side of the screen - comes and goes - and I replaced the entire Direct TV-HD unit - wires, everything - and had TV company repair - and it still came back. The TV repair refuses to take TV back because it does not show up when they come. Although I videotaped it and showed them which has the date and time - they still refused to take it - and tried to get me to sign a paper saying it was working while they were there - which of course I refused to sign - so they left and nastily said they will not be back-find someone else. I still have the lines - and do not know what to do! Can anyone help?

Recently my house got struck by lightening. It blew a few things out, one being the tv. It's a Sanyo Dp39842 42", green light comes on showing that its turned on and sound comes out but no picture.

You need to report to your homeowners insurance. It is normally about as cheap to buy TV nowadays as to repair. Especially one hit by lightning.

Picture too dark on lcd hisense

get to the screen menu and alter the contrast to lighten up the screen. take it back to the repairer as it may be only be replaceable-not repairable.

Serious! If the TV is new, you may check your homeowners insurance for a replacement. The Power company can Verify the power fluctuation for you. When an appliance receives a Power Surge like that, the sensitive electronics are damaged or weakened.
For PROTECTION: Get a 1000Watt UPS and use it between the house power and the TV.

Sony KV-20FV12 channel will not change

Pasted from another message I just posted-

It may be too late for this advice, but if you live in a lightning prone area, you should consider having a 'whole house surge protector' installed.
The cost should be well under $300 (a lot less if you install it) and with the included insurance (most often for $25,000) it is a good investment.

If your house was struck, I'm surprised you don't have a list of things that no longer work.
No, I don't think it is worth the cost of a repair, if you can even find someone to do it for you.

It could just be an expired TV.

Lightning Strike?

Assuming this line is across the screen horizontally (side to side), this means the vertical deflection circuitry is dead. In late model sets, there is a Integrated circuit package which drives the vertical yoke coils. Possible defects: the I.C. itself, bad solder connections where it solders to the board, missing voltage source to this I.C. (often around +24 volts), or a bad electrolytic capacitor in the associated circuitry. This latter often results in a non-linear picture, or less than full deflection condition, rather than a thin line only. It is possible lightning caused this problem, (I've seen some rather illogical damage from lightning ) perhaps it produced enough of a surge to pop the I.C. or a fusible resistor in that voltage source noted above.
