Printer head going one side and given beep

IF the jammed paper tears and you cannot remove the paper either from the paper output slot or from the transport unit, or the jammed paper remains inside the machine, remove the paper following the procedure below. 1. Turn off the machine, and unplug the power cord of the machine from the power supply. 2. Open the paper output cover. Remove the paper on the front tray if any.
Important:
Do not touch the clear film (A). If the paper or your hands touch these parts and blot or scratch them, the machine can be damaged.

3. Make sure that the FINE cartridge holder does not hang over the paper. If the FINE cartridge holder hangs over the paper, move the FINE cartridge holder to the right edge or the left edge whichever is easier to remove the paper. When you move the FINE cartridge holder, hold the FINE cartridge holder and slide it slowly to the right edge or the left edge.
4. Hold the jammed paper with your hands.
If the edge of paper is jammed near the paper output slot, pull the edge of paper to the position where you can hold it with your hands.
5. Pull the paper slowly not to tear it, then pull the paper out.

6. Make sure that all the jammed paper is removed. If the paper is torn, a piece of paper may remain inside the machine. Check the following and remove the piece of paper if it remains.
7. Close the paper output cover, then reload the paper.
All print jobs in the queue are canceled. Reprint if necessary.

Trying to change paper size from A4 to 8.5x11 on a Xerox Workcentre M123

  1. Pull out the paper tray.
  2. If necessary, slide the paper tray edge guides so that the guides are open.
    1. To adjust the side and rear guides, pinch the guide lever on each guide and slide the guides to their new position.
    2. To secure the guides in position, release the levers.
  3. Load the paper against the left-hand side of the paper tray. Paper can be loaded either short edge feed or long edge feed.
  4. If necessary, slide the paper edge guides so that they just touch the edge of the paper stack.

NOTE: When loading standard size paper, set the edge guides onto the notches on the paper tray to match the paper size.

  5. Close the paper tray.
  6. Set the machine to detect the paper size automatically, or manually specify the required size.

NOTE: Paper sizes detected by the machine vary depending on the Machine Administrator setting. See the Related Items below for additional information.

  7. If the type of paper has changed in the paper tray, then the paper type must be changed on the Control Panel as well. See the To modify the paper type on the Control Panel section below.
Normally just the guides need to be set correctly in the paper tray, The tray size sensing switched may be bad or the actuator on the tray may have slipped position.

Follow these guidelines when loading paper:

    • Do not load paper above the arrow on the edge guide.

    • If multiple pages feed at once, remove the paper from the sheet feeder, fan the edges to separate the sheets, then reload it.

    • If you're printing on both sides of the paper, try loading fewer sheets.

    • If it's wrinkled when it ejects, the paper may be damp or too thin.

    • Do not load paper with holes punched in it for insertion in a binder.

    • Load the printable side face-up. It's often brighter or whiter than the other side.

    • Load letterhead or preprinted paper top edge first.

    • If you experience paper feeding problems, try loading fewer sheets.

    • If you're using special paper, check the package for special loading instructions.

HP DesignJet 430 rejecting media

When you load the paper, the carriage edge detector measures exactly where the right edge of the paper is located. Then the paper is rolled forward and the edge is measured again. If there is a difference in the measurements, the printer assumes the paper is not loaded squarely and rejects the paper. After you load the paper and the printer asks you to align the paper, take your time, release the paper with the release lever, and line up the right edge of the paper with the right edge of the paper roll. You might have to do it more than once to get it to load. Some plotters are very sensitive and others are more forgiving.
