Battery is either ni-cad (nickel cadmium), Ni-mh (nickel metal hydride) or Li (lithium ion)
I do not know what the original battery was. You may be able to obtain a Li version but may need a different charger as charging rates for each type vary.
Depending on the battery formulation, you may want to apply the proper type charger or AC adapter. More specific data in battery type would be beneficial to further answer. As lithium ion, nickel metal hydride, nickel cadmium and lead acid type batteries are all so different it would require the proper charger selection for the battery .
If you're using regular alkaline batteries that?s fairly common. If you want longer life most people purchase rechargeable nickel-metal hydride batteries and a charger. Depending on the camera you?ll get 40 or more flash images out of a charging. I have two sets, one in the camera and one in the charger. Expect to pay about $5 to $10 for a set of four and around $10 or $20 for a charger, make sure its for nickel-metal hydride batteries and not the old style nickel-cadmium.
