Gas coming out near burner knobs

When you turn the burners on to light the grill the gas comes out from around the burner handles instead of the burners where it should.  Empties the propane cylinder in a very short time.

We have the same problem with our roadtrip. This only happens when we use the left burner. The right one seems OK, but we'd love to repair this. The grill is in Costa Rica. I see that parts are available. I think we need a new burner assembly. Do these replacement parts come with instructions?

The right hand side burner does not ignite fully. Only get a partial flame. Is this due to the gas leaking at the burner knob or could the nozzle be blocked?

Put on a new tank and when turned the knob to start, the gas shot out (loud sound of gas) in the area of the burner knobs in the front----of course, strong smell of gas permeated the area. Turned all off, removed the tank and reconnected---same problem. Maybe the pin in the connector between the gas tank and the grill became faulty? Maybe the pin is pushing too far into the gas tank and letting too much propane out, rather then a steady stream?

The issue is with the valve that is connected to the knob. it is poorly designed. To fix it take off the lid assembly and remove the front black cover that covers the knobs. remove the almost diamond shaped metal piece that the knob shaft runs through. put on your gas tank and adjust the valve to a position where no gas comes through.. might be lucky or you will have to replace that valve.

Troubleshooting nexgrill charcoal gas grill

did you replace the battery in the igniter?
less than 100 degrees indicates a safety has engaged, close gas valve, open burner valves.....wait 5 minutes. keep lid open, close burner valves, open gas valve until you hear the regulator click
turn on "ignition burner" and ignite (with switch or at specified port).
After this part is lit open other burners one at a time , waiting until each lights before opening the next.

Have a home depot ducane 5 burner. just replaced burner tubes. have never used the rotisserie burner on it before. it lights but won't stay lite after releasing knob...any suggestions? Thanks

Infrared burners requite that the gas control knob be held in for 2 minutes or so, to allow the thermocouple on the infrared burner to heat up completely. If it's windy were you are, the wind can blow the burner out, while trying to light it. That's why it has a thermocouple on it, to stop the gas if the burner goes out. All cooking on the rotisserie is doon with the lid/hood closed, at temperatures around 250 degrees F. Once the infrared burner turns bright red, release the control knob.

Hope this helped you to get it lit. Thanks for choosing FixYa.

Viking grill burner is clogged and fire is shooting out of knob. How do I clean my grill from excessive grease.

Is it still under warranty? I'd call Viking or a qualified repairman to fix it. If your burners are clogged, the flames should be coming out the venturi tube and flaming towards the gas valve knob. If the flames are coming out of the gas valve itself, then it will need to be regreased. If the burners can be removed without too much trouble, soak them in the sink with hot water and dishwashing detergent. Be sure to remove the knobs, so no one turns the gas on without the burners connected. If it's difficult, call a repairman.

Gas does not flow when you turn on gas knob when you turn on the gas valve on the tank and then turn the knob for gas to get to the grill, just before you hit the ignighter no gas comes out

make sure there isn't a designated burner for lighting. sometimes there will only be 1 burner the grill will light. start with all them off, turn on the tank. the grill will have a little picture of a flame next to the burner knob. turn it to high and try lighting

Grill mysteriously not working, gas tank full, can't smell or hear gas come to burner

Go to Dome Depot. Lowes or whomever your large hardware store is and get and new regulator and connecting kit (it is probably the regulator), they are not expensive. If this does not do it, it may be the valve on the broiler, but not likely.

My weber gas grill will not heat up past 300F

Hi John,

I just experienced the same exact problem ! I just bought a brand new Weber E-310 a 3 burner grill.
After I seasoned it up with cooking oil,I turned all the burners to high, opened the tank and clicked electrnic button several times , the grill was on then I went inside, I came out about an half-hour later and it was saying around 275 degrees..
I looked into my manual and there is a gas limit control valve that shuts down gas flow, when it thinks there is too much gas flow.

Sloution;
Turn the propane gas knob to off
Turn the gas grill knobs to Off.
Click the igniter several times to clear out any gas.
Then unscrew the regulator from the tank,( I then blew into the tank hole and regulator),
Screw back on the regulator to the propane tank.
I then clicked igniter again couple of times.
Now open your propane tank.
Then turn on front burner while clicking igniter, this will lite 1st burner.
Then turn 2nd burner on low then to high.
And if you have 3rd burner or more, turn low then to high!

John I did this and my grill went to 600 plus in a few minutes!!

The problem was turning the gas grill knobs on first then opening the tank then lighting...
You have to open propane tank with knobs off, THEN AS SOON AS YOU TURN ON 1ST KNOB, YOU MUST IGNITE ...

Gas leaking behind the handles along perforated pipe

Spiders get into the gas line and spin their webs causing the gas flow to be interrupted. Take the burner off and carefully remove the web. Replace the burner and it will work just fine.
