· Make sure you have media player 11
· If you can, the best test is to try your player with another PC, to see if you still have the problem. This localises whether the problem is with the PC (most likely the USB) or the player. See the link below (search on "connection problems") for a lot more troubleshooting on this.

Have you tried updating the firmware of your Zen V Plus? I've had mine for almost an year and haven't had these issues -- I updated the firmware as soon as I unpacked it.

try downloading the
MP3 player recovery tool from Creative's website (the tool contains the latest firmware update available -- 1.15.03). Plug your ZV+ into your PC, run the program and let it update the firmware. Then format, reload your music and try it.

SOURCE: computer wont recognize mp3 player

Hmmm when you plug it in to put music on it do you use the sync manager thing? thats what i use and sometimes it says theres no player connected even though there is, so i just keep plugging and unplugging until it works.. but then if that doesnt work i just go to  "Zen v series media explorer" it like lets you upload music there too.. hope you find something that works!

Lost my disc and trying to get software to sinc/load music onto my 30g nomad jukebox zen xtra. what to do?

Hi there,
You can download all drivers, applications, and firmware from Creative Site here:
in your case, you might need an application like Creative ZENcast Organizer 2.01.01 Suite (synchronize various types of media files and data stored in your Creative portable media player and your computer)

Just try the link and choose that might suite your needs, hope this help.

My 8 gb zen is frozen

First, back up all of your music and do this: Turn off the player and disconnect it from the computer. Then press and hold the play/puse button and turn it on simultaneously. The player should be in recovery mode. Scroll down and select format (all) and let it format. Then reload all of music back onto your player and it should work like new. Hope this helps!

My laptop crashes everytime i plug in my Zen!!!

Were you able to try this to another computer? If it happens that it's still the same then the Zen is the main problem.

The zen doesn't come with a charger. Load your zen software and plug the zen into your USB port. This is the only way for you to charge it.

If you have a charger, you might want to do this:
Go to Creative's website and download the latest firmware. Check to see if there is a flashing blue light at the top and an icon that changes from a plug to a battery.

Updated Drivers

You need to go to Creative USA Support and download

Creative Zen Xtra PlaysForSure Firmware 2.10.03. This firmware upgrade has to be done on an XP computer but if you follow the directions, Vista will then allow the installation of the Creative Organizer software which will then allow you to backup the files of the Zen and transfer them to the Zune. I just did this yesterday for my brother-in-law, though I did it all on XP and haven't tried to finish the install on Vista.

Creative Nomad Jukebox Zen Extra firmware problems on Windows Vista

Find an XP computer with WIndows Media 10 only nothing higher. If you can't find a computer like that uninstall any WMP newer than WMP 10 and then reinstall WMP 10. There is a bug in WMP 11 and its just best to avoid this until you have upgraded your firmaware to 2.x. If you don't have the newer firmware 2.x download it. Now click on the firmware  program then on your Zen Xtra select Load OS when prompt to connect the USB cable going to your computer. It should see your Zen now and should pop up that stupid window that you need to scroll at the bottom and click agree to get rid of then your Zen should reboot a few times don't touch it!! It will tell you when its done. If you can't get it to see your Zen try plugging and unplugging the USB cable. The best way is to do a fresh install of Window XP SP1 and install noting but WMP 10. You also can d/l the 1.x firmware then load it then load firmware 2.x then just agree with everything and it should work. I have upgraded and updated 6 of these Zen Xtras. Anyone that want a 120G Zen Xtra I am on Ebay: cheap-xbox-drives
I also can do upgrades to your existing Zen Xtras Players.
