My dishwasher will not run, door is locked, power to plug, was working in the morning and then not in the afternoon.

  • Anonymous Nov 17, 2007

I have the exact same problem - started a cycle and checked it later only to find that it apparently died shortly after the cycle started - there is no power to the unit at all. No circuits were tripped, the outlet has power (plugged in a light to test it), but absolutely no response. Very sad if this is a $1300 dead weight.

I have the same issue was working fine and is pretty new. Is it a board or a sensor?

  • needamiracle Mar 02, 2008

I started it and opened it during the initial scanning. It instantly shutdown no lights working on button panel. This happened once before. My 1 yr old fixed it by randomly pushing buttons. Thought maybe theres a certain button sequence to push to activate it again.

I have an old kitchenaid kdc-21a and can't find a wiring diagram to trouble shoot the problem. The unit has power but will not turn on. Any info would be helpful thanks, Andy.

More than likely the door catch switch or the on off button, check these 2 first

No lights, won't run. Nothing. Worked fine yesterday.

Hello. Critical question--is the dishwasher on that GFCI circuit!? If so, (A) you might have voided any warranty and (B) you should NEVER have appliances with digital boards on a GFCI circuit. Why? Because the method GFCI breakers and outlets use to keep us safe(how they reference current to ground) can blow out the electronic control boards plugged in to the circuit they monitor. I am ALWAYS telling my customers to immediately switch out an outlet or breaker which is protecting a washer, dishwasher, or microwave. I know that electrical codes often mandate that a GFCI device be within 3 feet of a water source but the design engineers didn't think about that one...It often is buried in the users manual to NOT connect the device to a GFCI.
Now, after all that, I need the model number of your unit to help you most accurately--some dishwashers have a main fuse on or near the main control board. If this fuse opens, voila! The unit is D-E-A-D until you replace the fuse. However, if there isn't a fuse, you've got a blown main board(and possibly user control panel, too). Power slams like the one you experienced are notorious for damaging control boards. That's why power outages are so destructive--they either blow out boards immediately or cause them to fail in about 3-4 weeks afterwards due to the damaged chips on the board starting to fail from over-current/voltage. I hope I helped you!

After I used a new phone charger, immediately ac stopped and charging outlet also went dead. All fuses are fine.

There are these things called fusible links, that may be your problem. What year is your vehicle?

Worked yesterday, but this morning is totally dead - power at the outlet is fine. Is there a master fuse somewhere? Aprox 4 years old. Thanks,Pat.

Dead appliance, power on wall outlet.

YOUR SAFETY IS PARAMOUNT!

Attempt this only if you are competent.

If your appliance has absolutely no functions at all, remove it from the mains supply, remove the case and see where the mains lead goes in to the appliance and follow the cable until you find the main fuse.
ONLY USE THE SAME TYPE AND RATING OF FUSE TO REPLACE IT.
The usual cause of this fuse failure is the door switches are contaminated or sticking. Check the door switches before putting power back on to the appliance.
Hope this helps.

My dishwasher has stop running and I need help!

Hi,

If it is completely dead and no lights or sounds it may be the thermal fuse. I have some instructions here that might help. Follow this link and let me know if it helps.

LCD TV WONT POWER ON

A dead condition usually indicates one of the following: Open fuse (often internal, and usually pops due to other circuit defects). Short (overload condition) in the circuitry. Failure elsewhere in the circuitry. Most modern electronics have some logic circuitry, and if there is a section of the circuit not working, the logic circuit keeps the set from coming on at all.

First, if your power cord plugs into the set, check that it is properly connected. If you can get into the internals, find the fuse, check it, replace with an exact or near exact size.

If problems are beyond the simple, technical expertise will be required to nail down and fix the problem.
