2005 Mercury Mountaineer with DVD Entertainment System that will not read disk

The data on the DVD map disc ages at a rate of 15-20% per year. As the data ages, the functionality of the navigation system declines. Offering GM customers new navigation DVDs will ensure that the customers have the latest information for their system.

General Motors offered a Navigation Disc Update Program for alot model year vehicles. This program concluded on December 31, 2009. The DVD Navigation Update Program policy has changed and customers are no longer eligible for free annual updates, however, a navigation DVD update disc can be purchased for $199 (USD) + shipping.

If the navigation disc is needed for a warranty situation, the disc can be purchased for $120 (USD). The dealer must provide a VIN and RO# XXXXX qualify for the reduced price. The dealer must call the GM Navigation Disc Center, as this option is not available on the website.

The GM Navigation Disc Center launched on March 15, 2006. There are two ways to obtain an updated disc:
* Via the web through gmnavdisc.com
* GM Navigation Disc Center 1-877-628-3472

Technical Service Bulletins are sometimes generated to address specific navigation radio operational or performance issues. When a navigation radio bulletin is issued, it may contain instructions to utilize an advanced vehicle navigation (AVN) software update with a specific part number. GM dealers must order advanced vehicle navigation (AVN) software update discs as directed in the specific bulletin.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Thank you for using FixYa, have a nice day.

How do I activate navigation on a Kenwood KVY-617DVD

You need to purchase the "hideaway navigation system" Model KNA-G510 separately for your stereo in order for navigation to work. Here's the link, just copy and paste

My Navigation keep saying "No Disk Detected". I

check the sa/nav fuse in engine compartment. may be blown. or sat/nav dvd reader is in trunk of car on passenger side above wheel arch, unscrew holding screws , disconnect power cords at rear, & get unit checked. it may be finished. can repair or replace..both expensive.

GARMIN 510 2009 MAPS

I'm quite sure you need to purchase the 2009 City Navigator SD card to update the maps. That what I did last year to get the 2008 City Navigator maps. You will need to leave the SD card in the unit to use the new maps though..

I haven't been able to determine whether it's possible to update the actual install map on the device. I'm guessing it's possible but would require a computer and an map update to write directly to the device. If I find steps to update the installed maps, I will post them here.

KNA-DV4100 goes nutz

I have seen this before it is hard to put into words what cause the trouble you are haveing, you done the right thing by ordering the update wait for that to come then go through the install process. The processor chip inside is what doing it the update might help and it might not GPS units can not handle any kind of power spike no matter how small its that or the single from a satellite could have done it that happens alot when the rays from a sun spot don't get filltered out it can mess up the satellite single and send crazy info down to the unit which messes up the unit processor. Some units has a small battery inside if yours has one take it out before you do the update just for an hour then put it back in give it two min, and start your update if you don't have a battery plug it in turn it on then unplug with power butten still on give it an hour then start your update good luck some times the update works and some times it don't.
