When I plug the printer I get the message Unlock Scanner. I looked for solutions in Lexmark web site and I tried both posted. One, to move lock button in back up and down, unplug the device, wait one minute, plug it again; the other one, after lock, unlock and unplug, turn device in its left side, plug again, etc. Nothing worked. Same error as soon I plug it. Does anybody have any other solution?
I had the same problem and the solution is this: There is a red lever switch by the power chord on the scanner/printer. Above this red lever switch is the drawing of a lock in the "locked" position and at the bottom this red lever switch is the drawing of a lock in the "opened (unlock)" position. The lever on the red switch should point to the "opened" lock symbol (unlock). It the switch lever is pointing to the "locked" position of the lock symbol, flip it to the "opened" position and recycle power on the scanner by removing the power chord for a 30 seconds. If the lever is pointing to the "unlock" lock symbol, flip it to the "locked" position and then back to the "unlocked" position and recycle power. Good luck!

YOU ARE NOT GOING TO BELIEVE THIS!!!! I HAVE A 5150 LEXMARK. IT HAS BEEN SAYING UNLOCK SCANNER.
I FIXED IT BY LIFTING THE COVER (AS IF CHANGING THE INK CARTRIDGES) THERE IS A LITTLE RED LOCK DEVICE RIGHT NEXT TO THE BIGGER LOCK DECIVE (USED TO HOLD THE COVER UP TO CHANGE CARTRIDGES). THE LITTLE LOCK WAS PUSHED UP, I PULLED IT DOWN, CLOSED THE COVER AND VOILA! FIXED!

Mine did the same thing even after unlocking. I finally took the top part off (you'll have to remove two small screws on the top back under the scanner cover and then kind of pry the top loose) and found that the belt had came loose from the scanner bar. I had to push it back into the little slot on the end of the bar. Once I did this, it works perfectly with no errors.

1 pulls out and it inserts a AC adapter again.
2 lifts the right of the printer by 45 degrees.
3 turn on power switch.

I have the same problem. I've tried unplugging power cord, USB cable,
turning off power, flipping red switch on back, turning printer onto
left side, reconnecting everything and rebooting. I've even uninstalled
printer/scanner application and reinstalled it. Nothing is
working!
