Anyways, on topic, if reinstalling/updating to most recent driver doesnt work then try your wired pad in an xbox 360 (if you have one at hand) if it doesnt work then its an issue with the pad itsself and unless your willing to fork out for repairs or do a bodge job, then buy a new one. If it works fine in the 360 thens its your pc thats the problem, enter you sys32 folder and delete every thing to do with the xpad then reinstall the drivers, if that still fails to work then it could be your usb port. Keep fissling around and hopefully you should be able to get it working. Good luck!

i have the same problem I plug in the controller then maybe 1 second later it turns right off just a green flash from quadrants 1 and 4 on the controller
