Making a loud noise
Is it doing this while the disc is in the drive? Also does it sound like a loud rattling sound?
Before taking it all apart try doing this right after pressing the close button and rite before it opens again give the disk tray a little push i had the same problem but i took mine apart and reasembled the disk tray and it worked but wen my friend had the same problem i did that and it worked but u may have to do it pretty often
Same problem as the first post, got it on ebay thats even worst and the guy whom I bought from wont contac me... I playd a few matches on nba 2k7 after the third one in the end of the game it froze up, I got the disc out reset it and the tray opens by itself, so I turn the console with the cd tray facing up so the it wont open but than cant read the cd.

It could be the magnet which holds the disc in place. It might be loose and out of center. It is held in place by some adhessive/ glue. You can either open the box and glue it yourself, which voids your warranty, or take it to a support center. MS leaves one year extra warranty with each repair (if still?!). but you may be charged around 100$ for it :(

The Xbox360 read the discs perfect but the cdrom is making a rattling noise, when I take the game out stops.
When I put in a disc, it messes up the disc with loud rattling. When I turn it on normally, it's tray automatically opens. When I turn it off, it closes, but then opens again.
Yess. my Xbox 360 has the same problem makes noise whenever i put in a game disk. The stupid support senter told me to check the clock. WTF?? why in the hell scratching a disk would be somehow connected with the time zone or watever!!
im on my 3rd xbox 360 an its not even a full year. mine now just got broke i put in the disk an the tray closes an it makes a loud noise like it eatin the disk. an wen i turn it off the tray closes then opens like a inch an it wont close i have 2 send mine away to get fixed.

my xbox 360 scratched my disk makeing an irritable rattleing sound so i took it out and it had scratches in a complete circle . Now it will not play the game , it says to clean my disk!
