LCD Monitor Is there any way that I can see the picture on the LCD display monitor before I shoot the picture so that I can put my object of interest in the right place. Thank you.

When i tried out my cannon at the store they had a power cable hooked up and wherever i pointed the camera the lcd screen was on and showed the images i was pointing at. Now that i have purchased the Rebel xt it only shows the pic on the lcd after i take it, how can i make my screen stay on so that i can use this to focus and show my images?

I just bought a new monitor and I don't know how to adjust monitor so the photos don't look stretched out.

Display a picture somewhere in the middle of your desktop, as it is now. Go to Windows' Display Settings->Advanced->Adapter->List all modes. Choose one that has the first number much greater than the second (eg: 800 x 600 pixels is a 4:3 ratio for a regular monitor) so that the ratio is higher, closer to 1.6:1 (eg: 1280x768 pixels) and apply. Try several ones until you get the desired proportions of the persons/objects in the picture. Once you're satisfied, Apply all the way out of the windows until you're back to the desktop.
Good luck!

No picture

If you mean you hooked up an external monitor and you want to see the display there. Well there should be a Fn key combo to toggle the displays. It should be one of the keys that looks like a monitor plus the Fn key at the same time. Otherwise go into the Control Panel -> Display -> Settings and you can switch to the other monitor there. Hope this helps.

Monitor does not stay on

The LCD monitor screen at the back of the camera does not display a live picture like many point-n-shoot digitals. It only displays after the pic is taken. Use the LCD on the top cover to check your settings. Please leave feedback if this helps.

Lcd monitor

On a DSLR (digital single lens reflex) like your Rebel, the shutter remains closed until you actually take a picture. The camera cannot display an image on the LCD since there is no way to preview one that has not been captured.

LCD Monitor on ,and the Electronic Viewfinder turned off

If you turn on the back LCD, the electronic viewfinder will remain on while in a shooting mode. There is no setting on the camera to use only the back LCD monitor while shooting. If you playback images in the Play mode, only the LCD monitor will turn on. However, if you press the Monitor button while in the Play mode, than the back LCD monitor will turn off. The image will display only in the viewfinder LCD.
