Take the front cover off, it is just snaped on, there you will see it, depending on the age of the unit insinkerator will replace it for free, you just have to install it, but for the most part it might be cheaper to change the unit

1) Copy following link for 3-step testing water heater elements.

2) You need $10-15 multimeter from local hardware

Water heating not heating water

The Emmerson W152 is ordinary 1-year warranty 120Volt electric storage water heater, except with bronze tank. The bronze tank will not rust, and therefore tank does not have anode rod, and tank has 5 year warranty.
http://waterheatertimer.org/pdf/Emmerson-point-of-use-water-heater.pdf
Actions to take:
1) Check circuit breaker.
2) Emmerson plugs into 120V outlet. See if outlet works for other 120Volt light or can opener.
3) Turn off power and do following:
4) Open cover on water heater, and press in reset button.
If reset will not reset, then replace thermostat with ordinary generic thermostat from hardware store.
http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-replace-thermostat-on-electric-water-heater.html
5) If reset button is not tripped, test element.
6) Emmerson has 1500 watt element, and correct ohm reading at 120 volts should be around 9.6ohms
http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-test-water-heater-element.html
7) This element is 7" long, and is also generic, and should be available at hardware, or plumbing supply, or Google-search 'Emerson appliance water heater element.'

My in sink erator does not produce hot water, do you think it is the element gone bad and if so where can i get replacement? Thank you, E Harding

This is In Sinkeraters link for your product.

This is the manual. It gives you al the specifications, ie, 1500 watt, temp range and so on, where you may be able to go to someplace like Home Depot and get the replacement element. I just don't know if you can get it in copper but, there is an 800 number listed in the manual where maybe they can point you in the right direction. First and foremost, I would make sure you have power to the unit. It should probably have it's own circuit btu, who knows. Check your breaker panel and make sure all breakers are on and not tripped. If one is tripped, reset it and try your heater. If you are electrical savvy, you can check for power at the unit and, check to make sure you have power through the heating element. It's probably the most common failure in these units and it's only 110v so it's not really designed to provide for a whole household. Anyway, I would start by checking the power and so on and, if you have a loss of power through the element, replace it.

Keeps tripping my electrical circuit. have the G1100 model. Any ideas? checked for leaks, socket works fine.

Hi,
The unit is shorted out internally.... the element either has too much build up on it or it has warped and is touching the sides grounding it out...

I think that element may be replaceable... or you will need to replace the whole unit...

When i plug in the insink erator and turn it on it blows the breaker is it the heating element or the switch or the thermostat

The first thing I would check would be the switch. then the thermostat then the element.I would also check for any burnt insulation which could allow a short to ground.
My gut feeling would be the element but I like to eliminate the less expensive items first. Hope this helps. Thank you and have a good holidays.

The heat control valve appears to have stuck, the water is only luke warm

I do not know what heat control valve you are referring to on an electric water heater. On an electric water heater it has two heating elements in most cases. One at the top and one on the bottom. One of these is more than likely defective. Turn the power to the water heater off at the service panel or at a disconnect switch. Now take the covers off both heating elements. Check each one with a ohm meter to see if you have continuity. If your meter reads nothing that heating element is bad and needs replacing. On each heating element is a thermostat to set the temperature. Set the upper element to 120 degrees and the lower element to 130 degrees.

Not really a problem, I wanted to know if I have one installed in my hair salon will it be as good as adding a Tankless water heater?

it depends how much water you use. you may want a 5 gallon model. the tanklwss heat the water as needed and the tank kind heat justr the 2 1/2 gallon so if you use alot of water go with tankless most of the tankless are gas so you would need a supply and exhaust
