The automatic shut off

The red automatic shut off pops up in the recovery tank and the cleaner loses its suction

Check the filter on the inside of the lid for the dirty water tank. It needs to have a 1/4 in. gap from the top of the lid to the top of the filter.

I've only used my Hoover steam vac twice and now it will not turn on. Any idea what the problem may be?

No suction of hoover carpet cleaner
Might be a bad blower/impellar - you must disassemble to check. But most likely the lid on the recovery tank is not installed correctly allowing air (suction) to leak. On most models you can remove the solution recovery tank, turn the unit on and feel for suction where the tank fits onto the base (look for the round, black rubber type seal in the front corner that mates to the round outlet on the underside of the recovery tank.) If there is good suction at this seal, then the problem is an air leak, almost always due to a loose or incorrectly fitted lid on the recovery tank. Also, if you have a detachable insert (for attachments) on the front of the recovery tank, check that the insert is installed properly. If this is reversed it will not provide suction.

Why is the recovery tank on Hoover f6212-900 not filling up?
Hello! There are a few things that can cause the cleaner to lose suction. Please try these quick steps.

1. Remove the dirty water tank.
2. Clear the filter screen of any dirt or debris.
3. Turn the cleaner on, check your motor suction by the filter screen.
4.. Replace the dirty water tank making sure it is flush to the cleaner on all sides.
5. Lift up on top of nozzle and slide off cleaner.
6. Wipe debris off nozzle and front of cleaner with a damp cloth.
7. Replace dirty water tank.

If you felt suction by the filter screen your suction should now be restored. Hope this was helpful!

My Hoover Steamvac Widepath will NOT pickup the water after dispensing. I checked the hose inside the cleaner, there was a cut in the hose so I put electrical tape and completely sealed the cut. Still...
Hi, empty the recovery tank of the Hoover SteamVac if the cleaner fails to pick up dirt. Once the tank is full, many Hoover models have an automatic shutoff that stops the cleaner. If the does not resolve the pickup issue, check the hose of the machine and remove any blockage.

Examine the water tank if water does not dispense from the SteamVac. It could be empty and need of a refill, or you may not have locked the dispenser firmly in place. The detergent tank should also be looked at and filled if empty.

3. Wait a few seconds (can take up to
15 seconds). Then squeeze the trigger
and begin cleaning.

Recovery tank not filling
The tank has an automatic shutoff float (red) that will stop the suction if the water level gets too high. this can also happen if the tank is not level or clean as the float can bounce around and jam at the top. I've actually had this one happen). I would make sure the float is down during the cleaning and see if the suction comes back. if not, please provide more details and we'll get 'er fixed!

Having trouble
Make sure that the lid for the recovery tank is locked down all of the way around. Sometimes it doesn't catch on the back. There also may be a foam filter inside of the recovery tank lid. Make sure there is at least a 1/4 in. gap from the top. One other filter is from the bottom, it has a red frame, pull it out far enough to clean it. One other thing is the duct installed in front of the recovery tank, if not, no suction.

how do I clean the dog hair from the Royal Carpet extrator? the plastic piece on the machine has dog hair that tends to stick. Hoover Steamvac Spinscrub top cover doesn't want to go into place took apart but cover won't fit onto back rear by power cord. I'm thinkinking maybe i didn't fit power cord in correctly. Cover will fit everywhere else but not around rear wheel cover.
