I can't get to work the set up function on my remote control

It is possible there are separate sound level functions for the DVD player, the tv and the satellite box, try the different remotes for each by unlocking the volume control on the satellite remote until you get them close or use the device specific remote volume controls. I would also try and use HDMI if available for the DVD instead of composite. If the volume controls are different it will show on the tv, might also go through all audio settings for each device. Some devices are pre-amped or send out strong sound signals while others are line level outputs designed to be amped by the output device, in this case your tv I believe. The HDMI vs stereo audio that goes with composite may be the cause or it could be in the settings of the device. Worst case is to remember to drop volume before you switch back so you don't ruin speakers.

It is a common problem with any universal remote controls. Try an other code for your device. Select one code which has maximum functionality. Than is the only thing have to do.

Please try to input other device such as DVD player to determine which device (x-box) or (TV) need to set up full view settings..

If you play DVD and the screen is fine so you need to set up the full view of your x-box using remote..

If you play a DVD but the screen is still half..You need to set the full view of you TV using remote..

on the remote there are various button at the top to control the functions. these include tv dvd cable etc.
When the remote is set on tv all the functions on the tv work together with the functions of dvd such as play stop etc.all except power channel up channel down etc.
THE REMOTE MAY JUST BE SET TO DVD JUST PRESS TV AT THE TOP OF THE REMOTE OR YOU MAY NEED TO SET IT BACK AND THE PROBLEM IS FIXED!!! THE USER MANUAL SHOWS YOU HOW TO SET IT.

already solved it. thanks. i couldn't see the xbox settings blade because of the blank screen so switched my component cable to the tv setting instead of the hdtv setting, then i could see the dashboard in non-hd and switched the resolution to 720p while simultaneously switching the component cable back to the hdtv setting. that worked.

As a home theatre sales person, i can say that i have had my fare share of dealings with new TV manufacturers. Although sometimes what i am about to say sounds a little abrasive, it seems as though youve fallen victim to the newly developing 'disposibility' trending in electronics manufacturing. You may have already tried using the on board controls, and if that works, try an advanced learning remote control to regain control of the functions. if the onboard controls arent working either, you could try to send it in for repair if its under warrenty, or look at buying a new flat panel. The avg repair cost on an lcd is 300-600 for parts and labor, there are many 1080p 40-42 in the 600-800 range.

found out that signals from both remotes were on same waveband
moved dvd player tp differnet tv in diferent room and bought new dvd player to couple with LG flat screen
Not a technical solution bit did the trick

It's likely the remote has the wrong code, so it will only work certain functions. You need to try lots of codes, if you do not know the player's code, till ALL function buttons work, not just some.

grace0308, Many of the combo units have multiple video outputs and some, like the SVHS and RGB Component outputs, are for DVD only. Make sure that you are plugged into the proper video output. Play a tape and try them all.

It sounds to me without knowing the model or type unit that you may need to unplug tv AND take batteries out of remote for a few seconds, replug and start over. Hope it helps
