Panda updates but won't do manual scans

Panda 2008 will update just fine. but i cannot manually scan anything with it. if i download a file from the internet, and i right click on it, and try to have panda scan it, i get NO pop-up, nothing telling me it has been scanned. when i click on Panda and try to select ''scan hard drive'' or ''scan all my computer'' panda does not pop up its box to tell me it is doing that. it just sits there. where is the problem and how do i fix it?

Sound like you may have a corrupted Panda installation. The first rule of software problems is trying to uninstall and re-install the software to see if that corrects the issue

Remove your software from ADD/REMOVE programs or by using the uninstall tool provided below

http://www.pandasecurity.com/resources/sop/UNINSTALLER_09.exe

Re-install your software by getting the latest version of 2008 here below using your username and password

Come back here to Fixya and let me know the outcome of this so I may further assist you

How to delete all the viruses from a dell laptop inspiron 15-3521

Start in SAFE MODE with NETWORKING (Click F8 when booting) and then go online to malwarebytes.org. Download their FREE application, update it and run a full scan. DO NOT enable the trial mode. Delete everything that Malwarebytes finds. Reboot into safe mode with networking again (F8) and go online to superantispyware.com and download their free program too - update and run a full scan in rescue mode. Delete everything it finds.

Reboot and run your virus scanner to see if anything is left on the hard drive. If you do not have a virus scanner, boot into safe mode with networking and download a free one - PANDA, AVG, COMODO, or whatever you prefer. Install it, update it and run a full scan.

Reboot.

This has happened three times today and I give up!! I'll be working along fine with my Asus Eee 1000HE netbook running WinXP and then .... poof! The mouse won't work, touchpad won't work,...

Hi,
try going into safemode with networking, then download malwarebytes just google it, it will give you the link where to get it or click the links I provided.
Install it on the machine then if it asks to restart go ahead and restart in normal mode it should install on its own, after the installation it will ask you to update it so just go ahead and do the update after the update do a scan it will detect what AVG cannot, after the detection just go to quarantine and delete the files detected as threaths.
then restart your computer and see if the issue will happen again.
If the issue still happen I suggest that you try reformatting windows just to narrow down if the issue can be software or Hardware.
I hope this helps.

App4R.exe comes up on the screen when I am trying to scan in pictures. it then closes the imaging studio down and won't let me use it.

Please update your printer driver. Visit the Lexmark website at http://bit.ly/aKlcOJ. Select your operating system, download and execute the file. After updating your printer driver, try to scan again.

Trying free trial. only lasted one day. It stopped working and my computer seriously infected.

A few things for you to do, the good news is it's all free!

First...you need access to a different computer. Go to www.malwarebytes.org and download their program onto a CD or flash drive. Then boot up your infected computer in safe-mode (Don't know what computer you have, maybe F6 or F8). Install malwarebytes and run a FULL scan. This can take up to 3 hours depending on how much stuff you have on your computer. When it is done, follow the directions to delete the infections. Then reboot normally and run a full scan again. When thats done, the best thing to do is uninstall the Panda Antivirus, then go to www.microsoft.com and install MICROSOFT SECURITY ESSENTIALS. It is a free anti-virus program and its as good or better as anything out there. Again, run a full scan and follow the directions to delete any virus' found. This should get you up and running and keep you protected. I would also recommend going to www.iobit.com and installing their ADVANCED SYSTEM CARE (also free) and run thru their cleaning options.

Sir i have a problem with laptop,its effected from a.exe virus.how do i remove it,please help.i am usin gxp {profesional}

You will have to try a bunch of different software to get rid of this. Let's start you off from the top.

ESET NOD32 Antivirus.

Malwarebytes.

Ad-Aware.

Spybot Search & Destroy. (When installing Spybot, make sure to uncheck TeaTimer.exe. In other words, don't install it!)

AVG Anti-Rootkit Free.

You will need to download each utility. After installing them, restart your computer. After the restart, open up NOD32 Anitvirus and update its security definitions file. After it has been updated, perform an in-depth scan on your entire computer.

After NOD finishes, exit the utility and open Malwarebytes. Update Malwarebytes' security definition files. Afterward run a full scan on your entire computer. After the scan finishes, remove anything found (restart if necessary).

After Malwarebytes finishes, open up Ad-Aware. Update Ad-Aware's security definition files. Afterward run a full scan. If anything is found, remove it and if necessary, restart your computer.

After Ad-Aware finishes, open up Spybot Search & Destroy. Update Spybot's files then exit Spybot. Now open up Spybot again and select the category, "Immunize." After the automatic scan finishes, select, "Immunize" at the top of the aplication. After immunization is complete, exit Spybot. Now open up Spybot, again. After Spybot loads run the scanner (Press, "Check for Problems"). After the scan finishes, remove anything found then restart if necessary.

After Spybot finishes, open up AVG Anti-Rootkit Free. After the application finishes loading, perform an in-depth scan of all hard-drives. If anything is found, remove it then restart your computer.

If the virus remains after following the steps above you will have to get your computer repaired as it only gets trickier from here.

Let me know how it turns out for you. Don't hesitate to let me know if you need any more assistance.

Got spywareguard 2008 on my computer froze me up want to install factory settings on my dell latitude 6oo

try and boot into safe mode by pressing f8 after the dell logo, pick safe mode with networking. if it shows all your icons get online and download the spyware scanner from malwarebytes.org install and get the updates, and download the virus scanner avast home www.avast.com thats free and do a full scan with both programs

Spyware Guard 2008 is a new entrant to the family of rogue security software. It is not to be confused with SpywareGuard a fine freeware from Javacool software.
A rogue security software belongs to a family of software products that call themselves as antivirus, antispyware or registry cleaners and often use deceptive or high pressure sales tactics and deliberate false positives to convince users into buying a license/subscription. They are often repackaged and renamed. They do not actually remove malware instead many of them add more malware of their own

Panda firewall

Go into the Safe Mode.
Restart the PC
Press F8
Select Safe Mode
Once you're in the Safe Mode uninstall the Panda software
Restart the PC again
Download from www.pctools.com the following free programs.

1. Firewall Plus
2. Anti-Virus

Download from google pack the following free program

3. Spyware Doctor Starter Editiion (free updates)

Now use these programs instead of Panda software, they all update for free and have ondemand scanner protection. Just set them to run either full or intelli scan weekly or daily. I do it daily for added protection. Updates can be set daily or weekly.

One more software which is good for the browser is called:
4. SpywareBlaster
http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html

5. Firefox 3 for your browser is better than IE that comes with XP. http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/

Again 4 and 5 are free and update for free, 4 you have to do it manually which isn't hard to do.

One more item you should get is called CCleaner that can be found on www.ccleaner.com download that and install it. Run the Registry Cleaner feature to remove prior Panda left over files.

One add note run all these programs one at a time to scan your system for anything lurking on it as what is lurking can slow down the system, because it's running on your system.
