A few things come to mind. Are you sure the printer isn't a D4160??? The C4160 was sold in England. Anyways...

First, when you hit print a box opens up. On the top of that box make sure your printer is the one selected. It will have a green checkmark by it.

Second. Make sure the USB cable is connected between computer and printer. The Hp pavilion a1710n doesn't have a wireless network chip so it will need the USB cable connected for it to print.

I assume your laptop prints wirelessly and that is why it works and the HP does not.

Good Luck

SOURCE: LAPTOP HP PAVILION DV2000 problem

Hello!

That beeps indicated that there is a problem in the video Graphics adapter and in the memory.

try remove and clean the memory and then fix it back, im sure that would resolve your problems. however if this not solve then your should replace the memory.

If affraid to do so, then maybe let the repairman do it for you.

fixya!

best regards, melnavz

laptop does not post: (then it is a hardware problem)
· try the following first.check battery is seated correctly and that the power pack is functioning,
· if the battery has gone flat and the power pack is not working ,the laptop will not start.
· Remove any hardware you may have installed prior to you having the problem.
· remove the screw(s) holding the cover plate on the back of the laptop where the ram lives and remove the memory sticks,
· clean the gold edges both sides, with rubbing alcohol or a pencil eraser, and re-insert them, (not an ink eraser as it will do damage)
· swap them around if you have more than one,
· try one at a time.
· if you only have one, borrow one from a friend or try the ram in your friends laptop ,if that's possible, or
· get a friend or family member to download a "memory chip diagnostic's" program such as memcheck 1.70 and boot up of it ,it will check your ram ,if not
· take the ram to your local pc shop and ask them to check it for you (they may do that for you)
· if you can establish that the ram and power pack is ok,
· it may be that the motherboard or the cpu is failing
· Generally a dead hard drive would not stop the laptop from posting.

good luck with that and let me know how you get on
please rate my efforts

Your printer driver/software must be as per your OS. Otherwise it will not work.

  1. Click here
  2. Select driver/software as per your Operating System
  3. Make download/install.

Thanks

SOURCE: CD LOST OF HP DESKJET 3845

HP.com/Support>HP Deskjet 3845 Color Inkjet Printer>Drivers & Software Downloads>Pick your Operating System,
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=372330&
You didn't state what Operating System you are using. I'm going to pick Vista to use as an example,

There is no full feature software and driver package for Vista. However there is a basic driver, and a workaround. Here, http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01655752&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=372330&os=2093&lang=en

If you have Windows XP, here is the driver, and the HP Essential software,
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=228&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=372330
First download the driver, (IN DOING all of this, DO NOT have the printer plugged into the computer, and have the printer turned off)
Click on -> HP Deskjet Full Feature software/driver: USB cable
(Size is 14.41MB)
It will go to your desktop screen. Double-click on it. If a window comes up that states Extraction Wizard, go up to the top right, and click on -> Extract All Files. Follow the instructions. Look for a file that has -> Setup, or a file that ends in -> .exe

It may ask you if you want to restart your computer at this time.
NO! Not yet!
Now download this for the same page as above,
HP Photosmart Essential Software for Photo Editing, Printing, and Sharing (Size is 6.19MB)
Follow the same instructions as I gave above.

Would appreciate a follow up to see if this 'cured' your problem.
Have a nice day.

How can I install Winxp on HP pavilion DV5 laptop ?

You're Hard Drive may be dead. If XP is starting to install and then it goes to the Blue Screen of Death, that's most likely your problem. There's a slight chance that you're power inverter has a fluctuating power level that is causing a disruption, but that's very unlikely. Have you done any tests with any boot CD's to check the hard drive's function?
