AL 1631 - Give me blank copies, Shape tech. sadi scanner was stuck.

    Did you get a error code like L4-00 or anything? your still able to make copies?

Hi:

If your not comfortable with disassembly then you should have it repaired by a qualified tech. With that said you need to remove the glass that you rest your documents on. Undre that you will see a round silver tubular shaft that the scanner rides along. This shaft needs to be wiped down with alcohol. The shaft can be spun around as it is cleaned. When this shaft gets dirty and black it will cause the scanner to stall and if it does not scan the document then you get a blank copy.

Check under the scanner, there is a scanner lock that you may have hit removing copies. Its most likely in the locked position and stopping scan.

Problem on corona wire. You check it charger and rewire again
or problem on scanner unite or scanner ribbon.

When I try to make a copy the machine make a screeching noise and a blank copy comes out.
Leave the lid up when you make the copy and see if the light bar moves from left to right when copying. Check the scanner lock knob under the left hand side where the papers come out. Make sure it is not locked. Sometimes the scanners get stuck a lot and can cause blank copies. If it is stuck then you just have to remove the glass and then clean and lubricate the steel bar at the back that the whole unit rides back and forth on. Once that is doene it should work fine. Make sure to manually run the scanner bar out and back a few times so that you can get the whole rail lubricated. Do all this with the power turned off.

You try any zoom copy, I maen 80% small then move scanner.

Sharp al-1631 error L1
Your copy lamp is faulty or scanner drive is not moving. Check the lamp and replace if not lighting.
If its the scanner, unlock the scanner lock above the paper exit tray.

My Sharp 1631 sounds like it is working fine but blank copies are now coming out
Make sure thee scanner lock isn't locked and after you clean the scanner rail, use only 3n1 oil on it.

Sharp Al 1631 prints half a page
Sometimes the originals hesitate using the document feeder, which can cause the problem you are describing. Do you get the same rsults if you lay the original on the glass?

Scanner bar will not move to scan the paper to be copied.
a piece of plastic locks your scanner in place, it is under the scanner up above where the copies come out. It turns 90 degrees.
Maybe some one turned and locked it.

Hi, you can stop a copy half way to see if it image is on the on the drum if not check and make sure toner unit is turning. if not main charge. thanks dale.
