An error is preventing the photo or video from being displayed

The card when accessed from My Computer does not allow access and the card shows the pictures have been taken - but you cannot see them via any picture viewer. I think my Kaspersky Anti-Virus software eliminated a vital file for viewing purposes. How do I add it back without deleting the pictures?

My memory card is not opening

Your card may not be formatted -or- it is and it;s a proprietary format. If you want to format it, here is the instructions (for Windows):
Put your card into your computer (some have a slot or else use a card reader). Right click on that drive after it appears in My Computer and select Format; set the File System drop-down to NTFS (better file storage space) or FAT32 (more compatibility in older operating systems) and click Start.

How to upload photo

Transferring images from a Memory Card to a Windows Computer Follow the steps below to transfer images from a memory card to a computer running Windows. Step one: Insert the memory card Follow the steps below to insert the memory card into the HP All-in-One.
  1. Turn the memory card so that the label faces left, and the contacts are facing your HP All-in-One.
  2. Insert the memory card into the appropriate slot on the HP All-in-One.
NOTE: Some portable USB flash drives with a read-only partition, such as U3 smart drives, might be incompatible with the front mass-storage port on your HP All-in-One. These read-only partitions are added by the drive manufacturer and may include utilities and other software. Refer to the manufacturer for additional details about your drive. When the memory card is inserted correctly, the Photo light next to the memory card slots begins to blink. The message Reading... appears on the color graphics display. The status light next to the memory card slots blinks green when the card is being accessed. If a memory card is inserted incorrectly, the status light next to the memory card slots blinks amber and the color graphics display shows an error message such as Card is in backwards or Card is not fully inserted. CAUTION: Never attempt to remove a memory card while it is being accessed. Doing so can damage files on the card. Safely remove a card only when the status light next to the slots is not blinking.
Step two: Transfer images without using the HP Photosmart software After inserting the memory card into the HP All-in-One, the memory card appears as a drive on the computer. Follow the steps below to transfer the images on the memory card to the computer.
  1. Press the Photo button to display the Photo menu.
  2. Press the down arrow button (c01133817.jpg ) to select Transfer to computer .
  3. Follow the prompts on the computer to complete the transfer of images.
NOTE: If there are photo files on the memory card that have never been transferred before, a dialog box on the computer asks whether you want to save the photo files to the computer. Click the Transfer option and all the new photos from the memory card are saved to the computer.By default, the image files are saved in month and year folders depending on when the photos were taken. The folders are created under the C:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Pictures folder.

Unable to display imges when connected to computer.

Please see the following blog article, as it describes the use of a card reader as a much easier, faster, and less error prone way to download your photos. In fact there are several important reasons discussed in the article for using a card reader vice downloading from the camera. USB Card readers are also very inexpensive these day, with cost virtually not an issue:

Displays file error message when trying to playback still images and video footage

Did you take the card and insert into computer/device to view photos?

Viewing photos can alter the format of the photos thereby preventing your camera from reading them.

I viewed some photos and rotated a few photos and my camera no longer recognizes the format.

good luck
