Turn on, stays on for a few seconds then shuts off. Unplug and plug in, then it will stay on...
Here is the Troubleshooting manual:

SOURCE: oil filled heater wont stay on
I was having the same problem and did a search to find this link. This morning when I turned it on, I backed the temperature down to 66 when it first came on (defaults to 70) and it appears to be working now (it's been on for over 10 minutes)

Warning this will disable the tip over sensor, Unit will not automatically turn off
when knocked over!!
I had the same problem with the "F" appearing and
the unit turning off. I read a similar post about the hz-709, that talks of
removing the "tip over sensor". To remove the sensor, "two
little black boxes on one chip, that rattles like there is a ball bearing in
each box."
Remove two small screws on the bottom of the heater then remove two small
screws on the top of the heater "top screws are under a small cap that can
be popped of with a flat head screwdriver."
Inside long panel front Unplug three wires, White Brown Blue "remember where
they where plugged in, so you can plug then back in later."
Inside long panel front there is a silver panel with eight screws on it only
the, only the four "corner" screws have to be removed to remove
silver panel.
remove silver panel then remove remaining 4 screws, Now remove front control
from long panel front, there are 6 screws only have to remove the four inner
screws, Open white box, slip large chip off three prongs,
there are two small blue wires connecting to the two small black boxes from the
beginning of this post, cut wire from box, twist or solder together, and tape
with electrical tape.
"You have just removed/disable the tip over sensor, Unit will not turn off
when knocked over!!"
Reverse steps reassemble the unit and enjoy.
SOURCE: Gas fireplace pilot flame won't stay lit.
Hi , you can try and pull the panel on the bottom of fireplace out and check the adapter in fireplace. Sometimes they go bad. When you open in also check to see if there is an adapter plugged in and a option to use the battery operated function. If this goes bad the pilot will not stay lit.
SOURCE: heater will fire but wont stay lit.
I assume that you are referring to a natural gas forced air furnace. If so you just described the symptoms of a dirty flame sensor. Remove the sensor with a 1/4" nutdriver. clean the flame sensor with a small piece of fine grit sandpaper or emery cloth. replace the sensor and turn the furnace back on.
Good luck.....

I am just guessing but it may be set to low. The rush of air when it extinguishes could be blowing it out.
Good Luck,

Just want to add this unit is from Fireside Hearth and Home, less than 18 months old! Heat and Glo Model Grand I35-C
I have the all the manuals and paperwork since it is less than 2 years old. Unforunately, I did not see the resolution.
