Easons for the failure may fall to the Blu-ray disc itself. Generally speaking, if the Blu-ray player is working properly and has no further wrong codecs or configurations, then it may be possible that your Blu-ray discs are not able to be read by the Blu-ray player.

Region numbers are allocated to DVD Recorders and DVD-Video according

to where they are sold.

The region number of this unit is "2".
The unit will play DVDs marked with labels containing "2" or "ALL".

SOURCE: Panasonic dmr-eh57 multi-region unlock code

I sent an e-mail to Panasonic New Zealand to ask about this, and they advised:
"Panasonic NZ no longer pre set DVD recorders or players for all region multi-zones.
However, we will multi-zone for all regions on request. This needs to be done by an Authorised Service Centre, as a special service remote is used. Once delivered to one of these agents, the service company will charge the fee to Panasonic NZ."

If you're not in NZ, try contacting Panasonic in your own country. Just call up www.panasonic with your country code after eg. US = .com and NZ = .co.nz. It seems a *lot* easier than all those complicated hacks on the net. Now all I have to do is work out how to disconnect my DVD recorder again, and try to

PS. I realise this question is 11 months old by now, but I hope my response helps someone like me just cruising the internet looking for help.

I need a way to play dvd's from China. My wife brought her english training dvd's from china but we can not use them on a region 1 dvd. My dvd drive is a matshita DVD +- RW UJ890

Hi, you are partly correct, your region 1 player is also in NTSC format, other regions are in PAL format...... So even if you converted your player to multi region or bought a multi region player it still would not play a PAL disk which the Chinese disks would be! The only way you could do this is to buy a multi region PAL/NTSC format DVD player.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVD_region_code

"The commercial DVD player specification requires that a player to be sold in a given place not play discs encoded for a different region".

If you don't live in Region 1 and you know most DVD's ARE Region 1, it would make sense that some care should be taken to buy DVD's compatible with YOUR region.

Changing the region code

Hi,

You can only change the region code a few times (usually 5), so I wouldn't do it. You should leave the current player at region 1, and buy and install another DVD player and set it to region 4, then you will have 1 for each region you want.

DVDs in PAL format

Hey LauraJPL,

Because PAL-format and Region 2 DVD's are primarily used in Europe, they generally will not be sold through Best Buy™ stores located within the United States or Canada. While U.S. and Canadian stores may sell some multi-region or region-free DVD's, the vast majority of the titles offered will be Region 1 NTSC-format discs.

Hope this helps you out.

Sincerely,
Aaron

Philips 7" DVD portable player

The PET702 will be a region 5 machine, whereas the UK DVDs are region 2.

DVD players from a particular region are designed to play only DVDs from the same region, due to copyright and distribution rights in each country or region.

However the PET702 can have the region protection removed by making it multi-region:

Switch on the PET702 and Open the tray.

Press SETUP button on the remote control, which will bring up the menu.

Highlight "PREFERENCES" and press OK.
coolsmiley.gif
Press [2], [5], [2], [3], [1], [5], [LEFT], [DOWN]

The screen will show: "Region Code: 2"
Press [1-6] to manually set the region OR [0] for multi-region.
coolsmiley.gif
Press [SETUP] to exit winksmiley.gif

You will now be able to play DVDs from anywhere in the world.

This is particularly useful, because region 1 DVDs from the US often come out when the movies are still in the cinemas over here. Region 1 DVDs can be bought perfectly legally by mail order or from the internet.

Help

HI,
it depends on whether the drive is multi-region ?
Some drives are region Set, i.e Region 1 ( NTSC-USA )
Region 2 ( UK PAL )
Most Players Are Region Set, To the country they are purchased in, you can sometimes set the player to become, multi-region, via various buttons on the remote or by the front panel.
I offer a service to unlock 99% of DVD Players, to play all or many regions.
We do have a charge for this Service.
Many Thanks mike @ Compurepair.

Dvd player

Most of the DVDs available in India mostly use Region 2, Region 4 and Region 5 codes, all together in one DVD.

Education on region dvd codes:

If you want something on the cheaper side try a Philips DVP5982 Multi-Region DVD Player.

hope that helps!
