Question about Sony Handycam DCR-DVD505 DVD Camcorder

Touchscreen buttons not working

Hi, I'm using Sony Handycam DCR DVD505. The buttons on the LCD panel did not respond when I touched them. I tried to follow the steps for calibration, but I can't because, again, none of the buttons on LCD responded to the touches. Any thought? Thanks.

I have the same problem and the camera is only 2 years old and I used camera only few times.

Yes, I solved this!

But you have to be very careful!

In my case, when it was not waorking, I opend only the LCD screen part and carefully put thick paper at the below part where all connection come (at the bottom of the screen).

It mean a thick paper is puttet under the carbon connections.

I screwed back all I opened earlier!

One thing to mention that I turned the cam on when ever I was doing work with that!

That all!

It is woring for years! and I am happy to let you know because I also was searching on websites to get it solved. At last I took the resk, and got success!

press the reset button for few second, turned off for atleast 10 minuts

My SONY handycam 505 touch screen does not respond. What can I do. Is it fixable?

Unfortunately this fault might need more attention as the set must be opened out.
Try to remove battery and reset, dry out by keeping the set warm, clean the display panel of any dirt.
if this wont work the camcorder must be openend and checked on the diplay panel if there is any line stips, the flexible lines being cut or broken. remove and fix connectors, if set was not used for long time put the set ON for several hours.
If this wont work you must contact Sony service to confirm if the display control board is faulty

Hi. Just a tip, try to do a calibration on the touchscreen. If it still does not work, there is a problem with your touchscreen itself. Hope this help. Goodluck

Touchscreen is inoperabable

This fault is often caused by a failing flat cable that connects the LCD panel and the rest of the camera. In its early stages it is possible to get the buttons on the touch panel to work by carefuly changing the angle of the LCD panel while trying out the buttons until you get a position where they work.
When the flat cable gets worse , the picture on the LCD panel will start deteriorating and go off altogether.
At this stage you may consider having the flat cable replaced

DCR-HC40 LCD works, but Touchscreen doesn't. I was able to calibrate once -- but din't hold settings. I cannot calibrate.

hello its ruttine problem ,just change the lcd FLAP and you can use the touchscreen.its not to wory about that

The touch screen is not working. After resetting

If the buttons on the touch-panel LCD screen do not respond correctly or do not work at all, adjust the LCD screen calibration. Consult the instruction manual if specific information is required to perform this procedure.
NOTE: The touch-panel LCD screen cannot be calibrated if it is rotated.

I have a SONY Camcorder DCR-DVD505 NTSC and all of a sudden after a routine recording I get the error C 13:02. I removed the disc and put in a brand new one, and got the same error, I can hear the head move back and fourth for a second and then the error pops up. I tried some of my other recorded discs and the same error shows with any disc I put in now. I suspected something wrong with the laser head, so I used a lens cloth to clean it very throughly, but when I put any disc in I get the same error. I also tried charging the battery to full, use an AC power source, I always get the same error.

The flexwire is the problem of your camera, the touch screen connection is already cut..go to a service center for replacing or repairing the flexwire...is not easy for repairing that if you are not a technician that wiring is like a strand of hair that why is difficult to fix but in our shop we modified that and become more durable than the original...
