Blinking monitor first 15 minutes computer is on...

I have a brand new 24" (Soyo) widescreen LCD monitor, and a brand new ATI Radeon x1300 (256 mb) video card, and I'm using a DVI connection to my Dell Dimension 1100.

My monitor blinks off every 5-10 seconds starting when I turn on the computer (as soon as the windows logo shows up) and after boot for about 15 minutes. Driving me NUTS. I've updated my BIOS, updated the video card driver, the monitor doesn't have software (Plug & Play). Like I said, after 15 or so minutes - I'm good. But whenever the computer is first turned on, or more importantly whenever it wakes from sleep mode, I can't really function for 15 minutes. Ideas?

I have 5 strips of redish lines on my screen. Do I need a new graphics card? My computer is a Dell xps.

This could be but I suspect that you monitor is needing service.
1. To isolate connect a known good LCD to the pc graphics card ( the ATI RADEON)
If the lines are not visible then yes a new video card is needed.
2. check the video cable to see if you have it well connected to the video port.
this sometime will render intermittent screen and vertical color lines.
3. check video cable for bent pins.
I hope this helps. Have great day!

You dont need any driver since your PC is configured as x64 bit processor so all you got to do is get hold of the XP OS which is meant for x64 compatible PC's. The one normally used is 32 bit named as x86. I hope u wont face any difficulty in getting hold of x64 based OS(XP)......sodeep
