If drum turns and no heat.
If unit is electric, look for:

1. Safety tripped or malfunctioned at heater elements.

2. Burnt out element. Wire has come loose or burnt off due to loose connection.

3. Clogged or restricted exhaust. This causes a safety to activate and stops the heating process.

4.Timer malfunction and needs replaced.

5. Improper voltage to unit. Reset breaker and verify proper voltage to unit. (Usually between 208 to 240 volts depending where you are located and the manufacturer of the unit.

Please keep in mind that in many cases, it is cheaper to buy a new unit that it is to repair the exsisting one. Do you homework on this. I've gotten real good dryers at about $200 from places like Lowes.

Hope this helps and let me know how things work out.

It's always best to leave the old timer connected, then get the new one and move the wires one at a time from the old timer to the new. If you didn't do that.....

I don't have your model number - if you look for that - on the door or the back - maybe we can point you to the diagram. Let us know.

Hi.

With most Hotpoint/GE dryers the blower motor is not spin by a belt. The problem is unlikely the blower motor. The problem is lint in the air ducts and in the blower housing. The lint results in overheating and the high limit switch cuts off the power to the heater (burner or element depending on the model).
As a result the dryer does not heat up.

Access the heating group and remove lint from the air ducts. Also clean the lint filter.

I have an old Maytag dryer and its model # is LDE8800 and the serial # is 201878 DU and there is no heat in the dryer cycle anymore. It runs but doesn't dry anything--any help? thanks! Ali

Need a new heating element. had a look around cant find one for yours, maytag did recall a lot of heating elements due to severe problems. they are not a very good brand. i think the model is too old for a new element. Time for a new dryer i think. try Hotpoint or LG

I have a Hotpoint dryer, approximately 5 years old, I can not locate the model number. The tub is banging during the spin cycle and it looks as though the tub is off center.

Check the levels by putting a spirit level on the top and adjust the feet to level, The model no. may be on the edge of the door, visable when you open it.

The finish on the inside of dryer drum is peeling

Probably due to the age of the dryer, and continous use, especially if it has been used on high heat settings, also the continuous action of clothes turning and thigs like zips and buttons will contribute to wearing away the enamel.

No heat in dryer

if you can see your heating element, use a meter to test for continuity. remove the clips or wires attached to the terminals of the heating element and put the probes of the meter.
the reading should be close to short since it is a heater. maybe 1 to 10 ohms.

tnx 4 using fixya,
