I have the same problem, I noticed today that the refirgerator temp is steadily incerasing an is currently at 40 and the freezer temp is at 17 and rising.

Sounds like same issue, but it may be different. Refridge was staying cool enough, but freezer was rising. Left closed for an hour, freezer up another degree. Then I noticed sides of freezer compartment very warm. Shut off, unloaded, and an hour later restarted (empty). Compressor runs but only one degree drop in 30 minutes, but once again the sides of freezer very warm. suggestions?

same issue almost except fridge maintained fold, freezer warmed, and sides of freezer compartment were very warm. shut off twice for extended periods(empty) and not change.

After 15 months with no problems, our French door refrigerator with bottom freezer had the same problem. The refrigerator went up to 54 and the freezer to 34. The frig went back to 37 after one day on turbo cool and has maintained that temp, but the coldest I can get the freezer is 6 which lasted two days, and is now creeping back up -- currently at 15.

Same problem, fridge and freezer won't cool down despite all attemps.Turbo cool seems to help only temporarily.

GE products ****! We bought a microwave, trash compactor and fridge a year ago. I threw the microwave away after a few months

, the trash compactor broke after 6 months and now the fridge is on the fritz. And I'm a GE shareholder!!!

Same issues....Purchased in March 2007 and by Sept 2008 temperatures rose, compressor fan motor stopped running. Sorry folks...the only thing that worked was replacing the circuitboard and the fan motor!

If you plead with GE you may be able to get them to provide warranty repair up to 36 months on this unit, but it will be a fight. It took more than 30 days for them to finally resolve the issues. Luckily, my GE warranty repair technicians fought with GE to get it done.

Also, be aware that the little plastic latch at the top of the french doors breaks pretty easily. It is poorly engineered and to fix you must replace the entire door...yeah...that's $700!!!!

Same problem. Purchased refrigerator in March 2007. Temperature rose in Sept 2008. Discovered compressor fan motor not turning. replaced motor (GE replacement $202!!!!) still didn't turn. Finally had new diagnosis which pinpointed a motherboard failure. Apparently our GE warranty Service techs have had to replace lots of these!

We pleaded with GE consumer relations and they acceeded to extend our warranty up to 36 months. However, after 30 days, no fix, and we discovered that GE had rescinded the repair workorders, twice in that 30-day period. Fortunately, the warranty repair folks pressed them and we finally got 'er done.

Also be aware that the small plastic latch at the top-center of the french doors breaks easily. It is poorly designed and breaks easily. Plus, you cannot just replace what appears to be a $3.00 plastic part. You have to replace the entire door...that's $700!!!

In reference to the gentleman who purchased an entire GE suite for their kitchen...our 2.5 year old GE Microwave Model JES1456 just died. The magnetron, which actually creates the microwaves, just quit working. The lights come on, the turntable turns, the clock and timer work, just nothing heats-up! There are also a couple of other postings on Fix-ya for this model doing the same thing after 16 to 24 months of use. And for this $100 model, the repair for the magnetron is $250!!!!

I am getting so tired of being shafted by large-greedy corporations that I am sending this microwave (since GE does not offer a recycling program) and an angry letter to:

    Mr. Jeffrey Immelt, CEO

    General Electric Corporation

    3135 Easton Turnpike
    Fairfield, Connecticut 06828-0001

He makes some $9.1 million a year salary and perhaps could afford to help you all with your GE product repair-replacements!

I had the same problem and when we looked at the back the fan was running very slowly. We replaced the fan and that wasn't it. Then we replaced the board, bought it online for 80 bucks and sure enough that was it. Whirlpool was willing to pay for half of the part if I had once of there technicians come out. I think they know the boards are going on these. Mine is a year and half old. I have read several other sites with people having problems with the board. If the side is very hot, like ours was than this may be it. We just ran a portable fan to the condenser until we got the board in..hope this helps

This is a known problem with this refrigerator. The motherboard fails and the compressor does not operate properly. I have this refrigerator for 18 months and have had GE in to replace the motherboard three times and replaced it myself once. The last three times all occurred within three weeks. The last time the GE service man came he showed my wife how to change the motherboard and sent us a extra board. According to the service man, the compressor runs too slow to maintain freezer temperatures, but usually will maintain refrigerator temperatures. I contacted GE but the best they could do was give me half off on a new GE refrigerator. I will also pass along the recommendation from the GE service man, make sure the extended warranty never runs out.

Check to see if sides of freezer compartment are also hot (and remain hot)

I think you have a refrigerant gas leak. This is very common and another symptom will be that the compressor is nearly always running constantly.

This can really only be solved by a professional because of the equipment required.

First make sure your warantee is not expired.

I have an apartment size refrigerator with fridge on top and freezer at the bottom. The freezer has stopped freezing. Upon cleaning out all of the damaged food from the drawers, we noticed that there was...

This sounds like there is a fault in the defrost circuit, so the evaporator is not being defrosted. Alternatively it will be a sensor fault that is reading low and causing the fridge to keep on running trying to reach the desired temperature.

Fridge temperature has suddenly dropped to 15

Check the door gaskets, condenser fan, refrigerator fan and the freezer fan. That should narrow down the problem.

GE side x side refridgerator temperature is

unlikely both temp.sensors will be faulty at the same time. Notice how different the internal temps.are compared to the acurate one you are measuring it against. Almost certain board is defective because incorrect info in the processor will tell the compressor/s to switch off before time.(hence not correct temp. all the time.) Suggest replacement.I normally replace probes as well to eliminate problems later..

GE Monogram will not accept freezer/fridge

Turns out the problem was because we didn't shut the freezer door tightly. The temperature re4set itself in about three hours. All OK and no expense :-)

Blinking temperature control

You need to check the limit thermostat for the defrost in the back of the refrig section. I replace it with a standard bi-metal type from a Frigidaire to keep the problem from reoccuring.

You have a clogged defrost drain tube. best way is to thaw unit out. Your vents are being blocked so no air flow is pushed down.

Fridge and Freezer losing cooling

we bought a f&p fridge freezer and in summer noticed it wasn't cooling and the freezer wasn't freezing, when the service guy came out he noticed our ducted air con was blowing onto the fridge, once we had redirected the air con outlet the fridge started working as normal, apparently f&p's work on air being convected around the cabinet of the fridge and air blowing on the fridge can effect the temperature of the convected air. hope this helps you or someone

Clicking Fridge

I used to have a whirlpool fridge, they are the ones who make kenmore too. It used to make a loud thud noise. It was the compressor turning off. sometimes it was loud enough to wake me up at night. It did this for years and I never had any problems with it. when I purchased a larger fridge I sold it to a friend and its still working today. If you can tolerate the noise I wouldn't worry about it unless it starts giving you trouble.
