Dvd cdrom problems
SOURCE: CD-ROM drive doesn't acknowledge DVD-ROM, what's wrong?
CD-ROMs dont play dvd becuase they are not designed to read dvd.
If a dvd drive for your model is not available, you can buy an external usb dvd drive.
That should solve your problem

dvd-rom does not recognize the cd
I have Dell Inspiron 530 desktop, about a month ago for whatever reason system stopped recognizing DVDs in the drive. It still sees CDs and plays them, but doesn't see any more DVDs. When I pop in any DVD, computer tells me there is no disk in the drive, and to insert one, but it is physically there.!!!
I have a Dell Inspiron 1200. All of a sudden my dvd/cd-rom is not working. You can hear it spinning, but then it stops & nothing. Can someone tell me what the possible prob is?
