Question about Admiral 26 cu. ft. Side-By-Side Refrigerator

1 Answer

Ice-maker noise/vibration I have an Admiral side by side 26 cu. ft and there is an intermittant creaking/buzzing/vibrating sound conming from the ice maker. When you open the door or push in the "light" button, the noise always stops. I took out the icetray/bucket to see if I could locate the source of the sound and I could feel vibrations coming from the top front most part. I tried to apply pressure around the plastic portions of the icemaker to see if I could tighten screws in the case part. Pressure did not alter the noise anywhere. It seems to be operating correctly, keeping temperature and making and dumping ice, but the noise is really annoying. thanks for your help.

That noise is coming from the icemaker motor module.  It is behind the the white square plastic cover which will pop off.  However it may be that the ice maker thermostat isn't opening and closing at the right time which would turn off the heater and put stress on the module to make it noisy.  Your best bet is to replace the whole ice maker for that is the easiest solution instead of buying parts which may add up to the cost a whole unit.  If you need help finding parts give me your entire model # from the sticker inside the fridge section.  You can look it up yourself at www3.sears.com to get the part #.  I have seen great "buy it now" prices on ebay.  If you don't think this solves your problem let me know before you rate the solution please.

I hear a higher pitched solenoid buzzing for about 10 seconds every 30 minutes or so. It is a new sound and it seems to be coming from the lower right side of the fridge but I don't notice any...

is your ice maker hooked up?if no water is going to the ice maker and the arm is down it will buzz.also check the fans one in the freezer and one in the rear for the compressor and condenser, maybe a piece of paper is hitting the fan blade when the fan starts or it could be vibration in the frame, ytou can remove the bottom kickplate and you say every half hour or so it makes the sound and listen to see if you can pinpoint the noise, when you open the freezer door the evap fan will run,you can check that fan motor like that.you have to do a little detective work to find the noise but if the ice maker isn't hooked up to the water source and the arm is down it will buzz.good luck.

Creaking noise coming from side freezer

The noise is most likely coming from the ice maker as the paddles are pushing the ice cubes from the ice maker into the holding bin. They do not move very quickly and can cause this sound. hope this helps.

Ice maker is making a creeking noise.

Right after a batch of ice is released into the bin spray the ice making forms with some PAM or other no stick food spray.

Problem with fridge ice maker

assuming the freezer is cold enough and that you have a valid water supply hooked up, either the icemaker is bad or the water valve is bad, best idea is to replace both.

Admiral Refrigerator makes hollow ice

Hollow ice cubes are due to low water pressure to the fridge. Water thru the door should have good pressure behind it. This is a good indicator of water pressure. Should be able to fill a glass quickly. Causes for low pressure are self-piercing saddle valves on the water line (switch to drill type (1/4") valve) or reverse osmosis system or filtering system on water line to the fridge. R.O. systems should not be used. Increase water pressure and that will fix the hollow cubes. The loud noise may be the sound of the water valve on the fridge when it is acivated. This sound is normal and some are louder than others.
