On my bosch wfk2401, i can remove the door seal by removing 2 metal bands that hold the seal. all that is needed is a good pair of eyes, a screwdriver and maybe a flashlight.
good luck

Getting it off is not the problem (just find the clip at the bottom of the seal and let it off and you can pull the seal out....getting it or a new one back on is the real problem...that I am looking for help on!

I have a front loader washing machine. The rubber inside is going mouldy. I have tried to clean same without success - any suggestions!

Unfortunately, once the door seal goes mouldy it is impossible to get clean. Only option is to replace seal. Once seal is replaced, you need to wipe it dry after each wash and leave door ajar to prevent reoccurence of mould.

The rubber section of my Hotpoint WF640P has gone mouldy

The problem is basically caused by doing too many low temp washes.

The scum you refer to is actually bacteria that is bulding up on the door seal.

To avoid this problem reoccuring, the best thing to do is to have the door seal replaced, and periodically do a high temp wash with powder in, but without clothes..
This is called a maintenance wash, and is recommended by most manufactures
Also, after each wash, clean and dry the door seal, this will help prolong it's life.
Hope this helps answer your question.
Please rate my solution.
thanks.

Mouldy Door Seal

Use tilex to remove the mold. Then see what happens. If the mold comes back right away it may be a problem with the rubber gasket not seating as it should. Let me know. And please rate my solution. thanks.

Rubber door seal mouldy

Wouldn't normallyexpect a few mould spots to leave that bad a smell, so likely you've got two distinct issues.

Starting with the water trapped in the seal: Open the door and very carefully slip your fingers into the seal where the water is gathering (to stop your hand getting trapped between the drum and the outer casing, put your other hand inside the drum and push it up out of the way - just be careful not to let it spring back too fast).

At the very lowest point,of the space inside the seal, either at the very front or the very back (so tucked into the corner between the floor of the seal and it's front or back wall), you'll find a little drainage slot. Once you've cleared the inevitable blockage from this slot, your seal problems should vanish.

If the foul smell is coming from inside the machine, the problem is likely to be grey sludge inside the works of the machine. This is usually caused by modern detergents not being quite as good at working at 30 degrees as they claim to be. The answer is to run a cycle every now and then with no laundry, detergent, or conditioner in the machine, on the longest, hottest programme the machine will support. This should be sufficient to dissolve the rotting sludge and pump it away down the drain.

Mouldy rubber seal

Check your exit hose spigot, it may be clogged. This is if your filter is all clean. There should be air for passage in the standpipe behind. Your hose should not fit airtight into the standpipe and neither too deep into it. Snaking out your standpipe would be good too. Regarding the mould; keep your door open after yur washing is done, (means dont shut it tight) it will help to dry the insides & prevent moulding. Only see your cat is not inside before starting a new wash.

And pl rate me if helped.................

Replacing door seal

Try washing the seal with jiff and a scouring pad in warm water.Depends on how well it is ground in.
You may have to replace with new seal.

Mildew smelling towels and no separate rinse cycle

the problem is your door seal if you close the door after a wash then what happens is the water goes mouldy on the inside of the door seal what you need to do is replace the door seal you will never get rid of the smell without replacing it never close the door after a wash always leave it open to make sure its your seal the easy way is to look at the inner part of the seal and it will be mouldy only thing you can do
