Pushing button across,nothing happens
Try resetting the unit by pressing the reset button or on the newer 205's , turn off the power button then turn back on but hold the button for about 15 seconds till it reboots again. This should reset your unit. You should go to the Garmin site and update your unit. I will attach a link to the Garmin site. It will explain the update process and you can also find a copy of the owners manual if needed.

Will not charge
THE BATTERY IS DEFECTIVE, IT WILL NEED TO GO BACK TO GARMIN FOR REPAIR, THE BATTERY IS HARD WIRED IN AND NOT SERVICEABLE BY THE OWNER/USER.
