I am using local company cable for my internet. My Motorola modem Intellinet wireless router model #524445. I hook everything up and all the right lights are on saying everything is a go. However even though the 'PC link' light is on my router will not recognize the ethernet link up. If I plug the ethernet right into my PC it works just fine. So my problem is I can't get the modem and router to work together. The modem does see the PC and wireless through the router but not the internet connection. This is what I have done so far:
Set taken to resolve problem, but nothings works:
- unplugged modem, router and shut down pc. Then booted everthing back in that order.
- Uninstalled all adapters then rebooted to resintall.
- Went into router config and manually typed in MAC address of modem.
Do I need a “HUB” between the Modem and Router?
No, you do not need a Hub. You also should not need to add the mac address. On the router, you need to enable DHCP so that your PC can get its IP address from your router. Then try your reboot again. Modem------------->Router----------------->PC. Wait about 1 minute between each device for them to sync up. Make sure that your PC IP settings are set on obtain IP address automatically under Control Panel----->Network Settings
