Hello cdoran93,

Well, "best" and "loudest" are mutually exclusive. You can configure for one or the other, but not both at the same time.

The best (most accurate) bass is produced from a sealed enclosure, while the loudest (highest spl) is produced from a properly tuned ported enclosure. The recommended sealed box volume is 1.375 Cu.Ft. Ported is 1.75 Cu.Ft. For a ported enclosure, you need to decide what frequency to tune it for and then look at the JL specifications to the size of the port.

www.crutchfield.com has both types of enclosures at prices starting around $70.

Hope this helps.

Jl w7 not loud enough

If your sub isn't loud enough you may want to look into a few things;

1. What type of amp you're using and its output rating
2. The gauge of your power, ground, and speaker wiring
3. The condition and type of enclosure you are using
4. Check to make sure the speaker cables don't touch, because this can cause it to ground itself out and produce little to no sound.
5. Check the RCA connections and make sure they are in order

I want to make my own speaker box for a 12w7 jl

you should be able to get the speaker specifications from JL's website. There will likely be a range of box size, for example 0.75 - 1.1 cubic feet. You have to take into account how much power you are giving them as well. Usually with a stronger amp you can use a smaller box as the backpressure will keep from overexcursion but produce a stronger hit. Bigger box will produce lower notes (to a point). Is your Integra a hatchback? If so then you don't have to worry about taking up too much trunk room with the box. (if you fill half your trunk with a sealed box, it can start to behave like a bandpass enclosure, albeit without a tuned port). Also, use stuffing to get deeper/better response out of a sealed enclosure (unless specs say no). For the size, unless you're a whiz, you'll have to take your best guess. I would stay away from the extremes of the range, or if you get a specific volume then be within .1 cubic feet. Also, remember that the sub takes up some of the volume, so pay attention whether the volume spec includes the subwoofer. You should use 3/4" MDF for the box (minimum), so when figuring dimensions, subtract 1.5" from each side's external measurement to get the inside volume. Typically the width and height are determined by the car, then you calculate the volume to see how deep to make the box. Especially for a sub this badass, put each in it's own chamber, if not its own box. This means if it's in one box, there should be a panel in the middle dividing it into two halves. Seal all your seams/corners with silicone caulk or liquid nails. Use wood glue and small nails along all joints. The wood glue will be stronger than the nails once it's dry.

JL audio w7 is not working but not blown

Possibly the voltage spike/surge destroyed your subs. I am surprised you didn't lose your amp as well.

I have a 12w7 sub with a 1000/1 amp and speaker is popping when u turn it up

Anytime you get a popping noise from your speakers, it usually has to do with a ground problem. Try tracing all your grounds to make sure your well connected, especially with this sub and amp combo. If the connections are secure, you might try running the ground(s) somewhere else, the frame of the vehicle being the best of course. Hope this helps and good luck!

What to do

well i don't know your budget, but if that's not really and issue, right now at best buy, alpine type E, 10" subs, peak is 750w and rms is 250w, each is 129.99. Alpine type R, 10" subs, peak is 1500w and rms is 500w, each is 199.99. These are the best subs i found at best buy. You could sell your current subwoofers and purchase those, and you'd save space and still get the lows you want. Goodluck

I have a jl audio 12w7 with a 750/1 hd amp and i want more bass is there anything else i could do to get more out of my sub. i was told to add a battery and another amp to my deck speakers will that help...

My full time job is designing and building sub enclosures. So you are in luck.
Anyway you don't want deck speakers and amp for more bass and adding a battery doesn't help unless you already have power problems. Adding an amp and a sub would help but can be expensive. My main recommendation would be to change the box your sub is in, designing it for your vehicle. If you are in need of bass that is crazy loud, then you would be adding subs and amps. Your amp can drive a bunch of subs if you want and it would probably be more economical to just add a sub or three. Shoot me an Email @ [email protected] if you need specifications on adding such improvements.
