Solenoid valve When the Humidistat is set at 45% and the furnace is on the circulating fan on the humidifier is working but no water is flowing through the solenoid valve.I hear the clicking when I cahge the setting on the humidistat. Could the solenoid valve is gone bad?

SOURCE: Humidifier control .

if humidifier was wired into thermostat circuit for power instead of seperate transformer , this can happen. you need to see if you voltage going to the solenoid valve. if you do , and it isn't opening, the valve is bad . this is assuming that it is using a # 50 relay to come on only when the fan runs . . make sure the water valve is open

SOURCE: water not getting to panel when furnace is on

I had a problem quite similar to this. It was the power connector. This is the 4-pin white connector that engages when the cover is removed/replaced when accessing the water panel.

One of the pins was loose in the connector thereby supplying intermittent 24 volt power for the solenoid that is powered by the fan motor control board transformer in the humidifier cover next to the fan motor (not seen unless fan is dissembled).

If you are technical such as I am this is easy to fix by removing the connector, removing the loose pin, and often each retaining clip on the connector pin can be bent out slightly, then replace the pin, and then it should be fine. Also, it's best to check this out on a bench while running the entire unit. You also might need to replace the entire power connector. Sometimes it's easy to think the problem is a defective solenoid or fan motor/transformer board, etc. It's frustrating, because sometimes the humidifier works perfectly, and then sometimes there is no water flow. Since I did this mine has been 100% OK.

NOTE: IF YOU ARE NOT TECHNICAL DON'T EVEN ATTEMPT TO FIX THIS PROBLEM, CALL IN A PROFESSIONAL TECHNICIAN. LETHAL VOLTAGES ARE PRESENT IF THE FAN CIRCUIT MOTOR CONTROL BOARD IS EXPOSED. ALSO, MUCH OF THIS IS FRAGILE. IT COULD
BECOME COSTLY IF YOU MESS UP.

SOURCE: Fan running but no water flow

the humidistat on this unit just acts as a set of dry contacts. with the humidifier plugged in, you should be able to touch the 2 brown wires by the water solenoid together and get the power fan to run and the water solenoid to enrgize. if you do this and water does not flow, you most likely have a bad water soenoid. it is either electrically bad, or just plugged with water deposits. sometimes you can pull it apart and clean it, sometimes you just have to replace the solenoid.

SOURCE: Solenoid won't open--voltage drops when connected to humidistat

The coil may shorting out the 24vac supply to the solenoid. Recommend replacing soleniod.
Normally you should be able to read the 24vac across the solenoid when energized.
The other option is to get a 120vac to 24vac transformer and test the solenoid. This way you will know if the solenoid is the cause or the 24vac source is the problem.

SOURCE: I have a model #560..turning the humidistat

turn the saddle valve in and back out. sometimes the small pin hole for the water gets plugged with something over the summer when the units aren't running and just turning the valve in and back out clears it out and allows the water to flow. check to see that you have water flow at the solenoid and if you do then it is probably the solenoid that is bad.

Honeywell HE200 humidifier only runs when fan/heat are off

It sounds like the wiring for the humidifier may not be correct. The solenoid valve, which controls the flow of water to the humidifier, should be wired to the humidistat and the transformer, not to the furnace or fan. It is possible that the bottom wire of the solenoid is connected to the wrong terminal on the transformer or humidistat, or that the top wire is connected to the wrong terminal on the humidistat. I recommend consulting the installation instructions for your specific humidifier model, or consulting a professional HVAC technician to verify the correct wiring.

Water valve does not close when the furnace is off. How do I troubleshoot?

Hello, disconnect power to the solenoid valve if this does not shut off the water flow, replace the solenoid. If it does shut off the water flow most likely the humidistat is bad amd will have to be replaced.

Humidifier will not turn on (no fan, no water flow)

A breakdown diagram of parts etc above.

Shows you the HE360A.
To me it sounds like it is wired incorrectly, the solenoid should NOT get too hot at all. The PDF above shows wiring data.

Water and motor always run on Aprilaire 760, even when furnace is off.

Hope this solves your problem, look for the humidistat, it should be located on cold air return duct near furnace, make sure it is not set in the on position, if it is, then this is why it is staying on, please set humidistat any where from 20 to 35%, never over 40%. If the humidistat is set properly and is still running, you may have a electrical problem, humidifier circuit should only receive power(24 volts) when the indoor blower motor of furnace receives power, also if you have galvanized plumbing in your home, you may have a piece of rust or lime deposit in the humidifier solenoid valve preventing it from closing, turn water off to humidifier and disconnect water supply line entering solenoid valve inspect & clean protector screen. Good luck.

We just bought a home with this humidifier installed on the furnace. There's no activity when the furnace is running. The water is connected but does not flow. Could this be a transformer problem? We guess...

Could be a couple of things. Transformer can be bad. Try connecting the two wires (usually wired red and white) from the transformer to terminal W and C on the circut board. Your bypassing the transformer and if installed a current sensing relay. The furnace transformer will/should handle the extra load. Turn on the furnace, if still not working, loosen the water supply line at the water solenoid on the humidifier, if water flows out then your supply valve isn't clogged, if no water then try screwing in the needle on the supply valve all the way in then back out. If still no water then the valve is clogged. If all is good then it looks like the water solenoid is bad or wiring to valve/humidifier control. Don't find the controls bad that often. Have fun!

I have a Honeywell House humidifier HE 225A-1006.

In order of probability:
1) (incorrect wiring) Make sure that humidistat is in SERIES wired with the furnace.
2) (shorted wires) Check that two wires to humidistat are not touching...use your glasses if you need them!
3) (bad humidistat) disconnect the humidistat and put an ohmmeter accoss the two terminals when it is turned on you should read 0 ohms, and when off it should read infinate ohms, if not pass both these tests, you need new humidistat.
That is it, there are no other possibilites!

No water going to furnace humidifier

The furnace should be equipped with a #50 relay to turn the Humidifier on and off when only when the furnace blower is on. You should have a test mode on your humidistat. Do you have water coming up to the solenoid valve? Make sure that the saddle valve is turned on to supply the water to the humidifier. Is your humidistat set high enough to turn the humidifier on? Is it plugged in?

Water not getting to panel when furnace is on

Assuming that your humidistat panel in on the cold air return, I would remove the panel and check that some lint or dust possibly is stuck to the sensor. Also check the operation of the solenoid easily when the furnace is running by turning the dial back and forth and you can hear the solenoid open and close.
